'Gunshots'
The mayor's reception party was in full swing later that evening, with the grand hall filled with lively chatter and laughter. People were mingling, enjoying the food and drinks, and the atmosphere was festive. The townsfolk had gathered to welcome their new sheriff, though some were still wary after hearing about Gojou's flamboyant entrance earlier in the day.
Gojou, as expected, was in his element, effortlessly charming guests with tall tales of his adventures and taking great pleasure in teasing everyone around him. Even Nanami, who had made it abundantly clear that Gojou was a source of constant irritation, found himself begrudgingly listening to the sheriff's stories-though he made a point to roll his eyes whenever possible.
Near the back of the hall, Y/n was doing her best to avoid Gojou's relentless flirtations, standing with Shoko and Suguru. Megumi, Yuta, Nobara, and Yuji were gathered around a nearby table, enjoying the food, while Maki sat off to the side, arms crossed, clearly unimpressed with the event.
"You think the sheriff's gonna keep pulling those stunts?" Nobara asked, taking a sip of her drink as she watched Gojou hold court in the center of the room.
"Knowing him, it's only a matter of time," Megumi replied with a sigh, already mentally preparing himself for whatever chaos Gojou would inevitably cause.
"Better him than me," Yuji chimed in, shoveling a mouthful of cake into his mouth. "He seems to have a knack for handling it."
"Yeah, if by 'handling it,' you mean making everything worse," Maki muttered from her corner, not bothering to hide her annoyance.
Before anyone could respond, the grand doors to the hall burst open with a loud crash, slamming against the walls. The music stopped abruptly, and the lively atmosphere vanished in an instant. Gasps rippled through the crowd as everyone turned to see who had entered.
A group of armed men stormed into the hall, their faces masked, guns drawn. At the front was a tall, menacing figure with a single eye, the other covered by a crude metal patch-this was Jogo. Beside him stood Hanami, a figure draped in dark clothes, his eyes scanning the room with a cold, calculating gaze.
The tension in the air was palpable as Jogo raised his gun, pointing it toward the mayor. "Nobody move!" he barked, his voice gruff and commanding. "We're here for the mayor."
The crowd erupted into frightened whispers, people backing away in fear. Y/n's heart raced as her eyes darted to her father, who stood frozen near the stage. Across the room, Nanami, Suguru, and Shoko exchanged worried glances, already stepping forward to prepare for a fight.
But Gojou? He was completely unfazed.
He casually stepped between Jogo and the mayor, a lazy smile on his face. "Whoa, whoa, whoa," he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. "You guys sure know how to make an entrance. But this is a party, not a robbery. How about we all just calm down, hmm?"
