"Lionel, a child born on a humble farm steeped in poverty and simplicity, faces life with a heart full of challenges. Each day is a new battle, and every step carries countless obstacles. Amidst the dry fields and cloudy skies, Lionel struggles to c...
Lionel turned off the lights, and everyone went to sleep. It was a calm and peaceful night until he woke up to the sound of Silver growling, the dog who had been sleeping in the room with them after they secretly brought him from the library owner, Joseph, while their parents had gone to play with him in secret.
Lionel was scared and quickly rushed to wake up Geoffrey and tell him what was happening. Geoffrey, after hearing the situation, sarcastically replied, "Don't worry, you're just scared because we're the only ones in the house."
Before Geoffrey could finish his words, they both heard the sound of something breaking downstairs, and the dog began barking fiercely. Geoffrey panicked, and his fever spiked rapidly. Lionel calmed the dog and told his brother, "We need to move and call the police."
However, the house had only one landline phone, and it was in the kitchen. Lionel grabbed a baseball bat, while Geoffrey picked up an iron rod from the closet.
They slowly made their way down, accompanied by the dog, but to their surprise, the thief was already climbing the stairs toward them in the darkness, holding a flashlight.
They quickly rushed back to the room. The thief entered their parents' room, humming to himself as he confidently searched through the drawers.
The brothers crept up behind him and attacked him with the dog. They didn't stop hitting him until he collapsed on the floor. They then turned on the light and couldn't believe who the thief was.
His accomplice, who had been guarding the door, rushed up the stairs to save his friend after hearing the commotion. The dog attacked him, causing him to fall down the stairs. The brothers went down and tied up the two thieves before calling the police. A few hours later, the police arrived and began investigating.
The identities of the thieves were Kevin and Steve. Kevin was the leader of the bullies who regularly harassed and assaulted the neighborhood kids, including the grocer's son, Ben. After the incident, the grocer filed a lawsuit against him.
This led to significant family problems in Kevin's house, with his parents blaming each other for spoiling him and the consequences of his actions. Eventually, his parents divorced, and the bully gang he led was disbanded. Kevin lost everything-his status, his friends, his home, and even the respect he once had.
He wanted to take revenge on Lionel, believing that if it weren't for him, the events of the case wouldn't have come to light, and his luxurious life would have continued.
Kevin had been waiting for the right moment to strike, and that opportunity came when he overheard Lionel talking to Joseph, the library owner. Kevin decided to regain his gang's respect and authority by robbing Lionel's house and teaching him a lesson.
It seemed easy to him, thinking the house was empty and didn't have any dogs or guards, especially since their door was old and easy to break into.
He recruited one of the former gang members, whose father worked for Lionel's parents, and blackmailed him into cooperating by threatening to expose everything and ruin his life if he didn't. Thus, Steve was forced to participate in the plan.
However, they didn't expect Geoffrey and Martin to be home, especially since they had seen the family leave in the morning and return after Lionel had turned off the lights. Kevin and Steve were arrested by the police after they confessed to everything.
After the police left, the neighbors gathered around Lionel's house to learn the latest news. The brothers couldn't return to sleep after the traumatic events of that night, which seemed to leave a lasting shock on them.
The next day, the family returned, and the brothers told their parents everything that had happened. At first, their parents thanked them for guarding the house, and the atmosphere was celebratory. But then the father asked cautiously, "So, why was Joseph's dog in the house while we were gone?" The alarm bells went off for the brothers, and they decided to seize the opportunity.
Lionel quickly said, "My brother was sick, and I was really scared, so we borrowed the dog from Joseph, especially since he's spent a lot of time with us."
Lucian and Marten quickly intervened, saying, "Do you see how important it is to have a dog in the house? We should have kept him. We should have adopted him. Without him, we wouldn't have been able to defeat the thieves." The parents hesitated, and in a moment of weakness, the father told the mother, "I wish we had kept him."
The children immediately jumped in, saying, "We can convince Joseph to let us have him back." The mother, surprised, replied, "He probably won't agree, especially since he's alone." Lionel smiled confidently and said, "Don't worry, I'll figure it out."
As soon as morning came, Lionel rushed to Joseph's library. Joseph was surprised and became more excited as he listened to Lionel's dramatic recount of the events.
Lionel managed to retrieve the dog since he and Joseph had an agreement that the dog would stay with him until he found a new owner. And so, Silver became an official member of the family.
As for the grandparents, their roof was repaired, As for the grandfather's injury, it started to improve.
