Chapter 2: Jealous.... ?

"You know this chick?" Jocelyn asks. A bright smile comes to Jax's face. "We were best friends when we were younger. Then they sent her off to a boarding school farther away and I never got to see her again." Elliana catches Jax's eye and she runs over and hugs him. "Jax! Oh my gosh I missed you so much." She turns to us. "Oh hi! It's nice to meet you." She says to us but is still looking at Jax. Jocelyn coughs. "Ahem ahem. Blondie? We're over here." Her face flushes. "Oh sorry. Im Elliana. But you can call me Ellie." She says with a warm smile. I give her a once over. "Okay." I say seriously. Jax clears his throat. "Ellie this is my best friend Gilly. This is Maxine, Kayla, Jocelyn, Ollie. AG, Jack, and Haley aren't here right now but will be soon." Ellie smiles. "Nice to meet you!" "Wish I could say the same....." "What was that?" "Nothing." "Funny how I never heard Jax talk about you before." I say with a smirk. "Gilly....." Jax says through gritted teeth. I smile innocently. "I can give you a tour. And also help you get settled." Jax offers. "That would be lovely!" The two walk off together talking and laughing.

I grumble. "Jealousy is not a good look on you, Cobbler." "Shut up."

"Oh my gosh. They are so gonna end up dating." A girl whispered to someone next to her. "They're not!" I yell. She turns to me. "Face it Gilly. He replaced you. You have to accept it sooner or later." My face burns and I open my mouth then close it. They aren't a good use of my time. I storm away and plop my lunch tray on the table. "Someone's grumpy!" Jocelyn sings. Kayla gives her a look. "Where's Jax?" I ask. "Sitting with Ellie." Ollie replied with a mouthful of spaghetti. Gross. "Oh....." I hear a giggle and look over to see Ellie and Jax together. Ellie twirling her long blonde hair around her finger and Jax smiling and laughing. I feel a stab of jealousy.

Suddenly my best friend feels so far away. I go up to walk over to them but apparently they had the same idea because me and Ellie crashed into each other causing her spaghetti to go all over my shirt. She gasps. "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!" "You so did that on purpose." Jax's expression hardens. "Gilly it was just an accident. Chill." I should've known. He is always going to take her side now. That girl was right, I am being replaced. And it only took less than a day.

I run out of the cafeteria and towards the bathroom. I start to wipe off the sauce off the shirt when Ellie comes in with a smirk.

"Well that was quick." "What was quick?" "Jax replacing you with me." "Don't flatter yourself." She rolled her eyes. "You don't stand a chance. You're just a shoemakers daughter." "Really? I am? Thanks for telling me!" She gives me a once over. "See you later, Thief."

Ugh! The nerve! And only Jax can call me Thief. It's okay, Gilly. Jax is just excited she's here. There's nothing to worry about. Right.....?

There's a knock on my door. "Come in." I yell. Right now I'm the only one in the room. And I just really needed to get away from Ellie looking at Jax in such a flirty way. The door opens. "Thief?" I look up. "Yeah?" He sits down at the end of my bed and clasps his hands together. "Um well I just wanted to say that Ellie is going through a very hard time right now and it would be great if you could help support her." I sit up straight and scoff. "No way in hell am I doing that." Jax raises an eyebrow. "And why is that?" I cross my arms. "Because I don't like her. And I got a bad feeling about her." "She like, the most amazing person you'll ever meet." "Ahem ahem. Am I chopped liver?" "You know what I meant." He narrows his eyes. "Wait a second. Are you jealous?" "I'm never jealous." "Oh my god." Jax stands up. "THE Gilly Cobbler is JEALOUS!" "Am not!" He walks out and winks at me. My heart flutters. I can't let Ellie do this. He's not going to fall for her act. I'm sure of it.
