Of course it had to be Carlos. It always had to be Carlos!

The victim being a murderer, that would definitely be up Carlos' lane. He always had a specific type of target he went for: People who commit crimes that put lives in danger.

Oswald's body described as being mauled? Not how Carlos would usually kill his victims, this wasn't the first time his victims were mauled to death. Carlos had a Blessing as well, though his Blessing would be considered more... Inhumane than others. The type of Blessing that would be given from an evil spirit or a demon, rather than a God. Carlos was a Necromancer, and it was within the realm
of possibility that he ordered the corpses of the man's family to kill him instead of doing it himself.

The dagger that was left behind at the scene of the crime? Carlos never used firearms. He also had the tendency to add a fancy flair to his presentation, so the ruby blade would make sense.

Lastly, the red spider lily flower. Kellan had no clue where he kept getting these flowers, but they always showed up as a calling card.

Kellan was extremely ticked off at knowing he was dealing with Carlos again. The two had fought before, and yet Carlos would always best him one way or another using cheap tricks and charm.

"I was thinking the same thing." Vivian agreed, opening the front door. "I'm going back inside to see if we have any clues on where he could've gone."

"I'll come with you." Kellan replied, following Vivian inside the house.

The house reeked of death the moment they stepped inside, and it nearly made Kellan retch. Aside from the mark on the wall where the dagger had been found, the broken basement lock and the scratches on the floor, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. At least, not at first glance.

Vivian went to go downstairs, into the basement. Thank God, Kellan thought. If it smelt terrible in here, imagine how horrendous the stench was in the basement. Vivian was lucky she had no sense of smell, otherwise Kellan would feel like an asshole for letting her go down there.

Kellan entered the dining room, turning off the light that had been left on. Kellan felt his stomach grumble at the sight of the spaghetti on the table, taunting him. Kellan silently cursed himself for skipping breakfast, but then he remembered the corpses underground. Perhaps it was for the best, otherwise he would've vomited it all out a while ago. He made a note to himself to stop by the nearest 7-Eleven to grab some donuts after this. Not the healthiest breakfast, but it was cheap and delicious.

He went to go to the kitchen but was startled when he heard his name called out for him. He turned around to see one of the officers coming up to him, an officer with brown skin who wore a mask over his mouth and nose, his hair done up in a bun. Kellan had to admit, the officer looked quite handsome.

"The detectives are about to wrap up their investigation here." The officer's voice was deep, slightly muffled under his mask. "Have you found anything of note yet?"

Kellan shook his head, looking up at the officer. "No."

Those eyes...

"Shame." The officer sighed. "Kellan, right?"

"Yes."

"It's nice to meet you." The officer greeted, holding his hand out in front of Kellan. "Officer Jayden."

"Nice to meet you..." Kellan shook Officer Jayden's hand. "Officer Jayden."

"I'll go look out the backyard. I suspect that Carlos might've escaped that way."

Officer Jayden turned around, walking out of the kitchen. Kellan watched the handsome officer leave, rooted to the spot, before he went after him. "I- I'm coming with you!"
