Ophelia wasn't always a monster. She was once just a girl, cast aside and killed by her coven. They made her a monster. With all the sins she committed in their names, there wasn't enough paper in the world to write them all down.
Looking out at the woods surrounding her, she couldn't pinpoint where the screech came from, even with her enhanced hearing. The sound seemed to echo across the land. Pushing herself up from her seat on the stairs she checked the perimeter of the burning house, wanting to be sure that wherever the inhumane noise came from it wasn't near her.
When she was sure she was somewhat safe she walked forward until she stood at the threshold between civilisation and nature. Between the known and unknown. Except before she could make a proper decision another sound rang out, but this sound wasn't a screech, it was a voice. "Ophelia!" The pained voice cried out.
She knew that voice, for over half a millennium she had dreamed of hearing it again. Pushing aside all logic and letting her emotions, her guilt and grief, lead her she chased after the eerie voice. The cry echoed off the tall trees, the daylight fading the further into the woods she ran. Moss and leaves dangled from branches, and a strange smell drifted through the air, almost inhumane, like death. "Ha-ru!" She called out in Korean, though some would say it sounded more like begging, but those people weren't there. No one was there, not anymore, except her and the voice.

Her breaths came out in short quick pants as she ran through the woods, jumping over roots and rocks. 1 hour, she had been running through the woods for 1 hour. And yet she had nothing but her sweat and exhaustion to show for it. Her eyes burned in irritation as bits of dust flew into them. But she didn't dare slow down. The wind danced through her hair like hands raking through them.
All the trees had monstrous faces etched into the wood, faces of fear, anger, and despair. She could only hope it was her mind playing tricks on her.
"하루 어디 계세요?!" She tried to yell her voice having grown hoarse. "Ha-ru!"
Using her enhanced senses, she tried to listen for the voice again, but all she could hear were the echoes and the nearby stream. Refusing to give up, she pushed on, never having given up on someone she cared so much about. She let her guilt and grief take charge, something she knew was a bad idea but was too caught up in her emotions to realise, trapped in her oblivious hope.
