Every person has been talking about this black plague. I suppose I don't fully understand it. I'm only eight years old. I heard mummy and daddy talking about it. They said, "What if little Suzie catches it?" I came into the room asking, "What if I catch what?" They stared at me for a while. It looked like a painful stare. Mummy looked at daddy. I repeated my question, "If I catch what?" Mummy walked over to me and took my hand. "Come here, dear," she said. She sat me down on the chair next to the fireplace. Mummy and daddy told me that it's a terrible disease that has become very common. They wouldn't tell me much else about it. Now I'm scared. Whatever it exactly is, doesn't sound good. I think I'll take Teddy and sleep with Christie tonight. Tomorrow is Christie's 16th birthday and I made a card for her. I really hope she likes it.

Good Night, Diary.
