Jason sat at his desk, the remnants of back-to-back meetings lingering in his mind. He rubbed his temples, trying to shake off the stress that clung to him like a heavy fog. Just as he began to find his footing, a reminder pinged on his phone: Family Gathering this Weekend. His stomach twisted in frustration at the thought of facing the endless questions and expectations.

"Just great," he muttered to himself, glancing at the clock. He had just decided to order some takeout when the door swung open, revealing Daniel Kim, his lively colleague with an infectious energy.

"Hey, man! You look like you could use a break," Daniel said, a grin spreading across his face. "How about we grab some food? Let's go out for a beer and some meat!"

Jason hesitated, a sigh escaping his lips. "I don't know, Daniel. I'm feeling kind of frustrated right now, and I really can't be distracted."

"Exactly! That's why it's the perfect time for a little escape. C'mon, it'll do you good!" Daniel urged, his enthusiasm unwavering. "Laura's coming too; we can all use a little fun. Besides, I promise I'll pay for the drinks."

With a reluctant smile, Jason relented. "Fine, you win. Just this once."

Moments later, they found themselves at a nearby Korean BBQ spot, the rich scents of marinated meat wafting through the air. Laura joined them shortly, her presence brightening the mood. "What's up, boys?" she called out as she slid into the booth across from them.

As they settled in, the trio bantered about their workdays and the upcoming weekend. Daniel, animated as ever, couldn't hide his excitement. "So, I'm thinking about popping the question. You guys have any tips for me?"

Jason raised an eyebrow, taken aback for a moment. "Wow, that's... big news. Congratulations, man! Just be honest with her. Communication is key."

Laura, unable to resist, smirked and chimed in. "Or, you know, just enjoy your freedom a little longer! I mean, being single has its perks. You can go wherever you want, even to a married guy's place without the drama!"

Daniel chuckled nervously, picking up on the underlying tension. "Uh, yeah, but... marriage is great, right? Right?" His eyes darted between Jason and Laura, trying to gauge their reactions while feeling slightly awkward.

"Sure, if you like being tied down," Laura teased, leaning back in her seat. "I'm just saying, there are plenty of adventures out there. Why rush into it?"

Jason could feel the weight of their conversation pressing down on him, a subtle reminder of the pressure he faced in his own life. He glanced at Daniel, who was trying to maintain his composure but clearly caught between the playful banter and the serious undertones.

"Look, it's all about finding the right person for you," Jason said, trying to steer the conversation back on track. "And understanding what you really want. But you have to be ready for what comes after."

"Like dealing with family gatherings?" Daniel quipped, a hint of sympathy in his voice.

Jason laughed, grateful for the distraction. "Exactly. Just brace yourself for all the questions and opinions."

As they continued to eat and share stories, Jason felt a momentary escape from the weight of his responsibilities. But as the laughter and teasing flowed around him, the nagging thoughts about the weekend still lingered, waiting for him to confront them once more.
