There lived a little girl called Lex Hutchins and she's 15 years old, she lived with her parents on a small house, Lex's parents were not wealthy, as lex's dad works as a waste collector and her mom is a stay at home mom.
Lex's dad gets a salary of $20 per day. which is perfect for their food everyday. Lex asked her dad if she could work too but her dad denied saying she was a bit too young. As their salary was quite not enough, they left the house and moved to a house which Lex's father, Mr Hutchins already built. It was a rusty cottage with wood planks.
One day, Lex was coming back from school and she was crying because kids at school bullied her because of how poor she was. " Tomorrow's summer holidays, can't they see me enjoy holidays in peace? " she sobbed.
Suddenly, rain started pouring heavily and Lex ran to her house. She reached home and saw that her parents were not home yet. Her parents went to meet Mr Hutchin's boss so that they could ask Mr Gowy ( Mr Hutchin's Boss ) for a raise.
Someone knocked on her door, VERY LOUD. Lex quickly ran to her door, a little frightened, she slowly opened the door. She saw two police officers...
They asked " Are you Lex Hutchins? Are you the only one here? Do you have any relatives or grandparents? ", Lex replied hesitantly" Yes, I am Lex Hutchins, I am the only one here and I don't have any relatives nor grandparents...not that I know of... ". " Well, we are here to say that, your parents got into a car accident...and um, they're no more... "
