" Then...when do we start the project? " asked Lex, a bit nervous. " Whenever you like " said Devon, a faint smile forming on his face. Lex's heart was racing and her stomach fluttered, creating millions of butterflies in her stomach. " Is this what they call...butterflies? " I thought, " I have...never, felt this before ".
" I...uh " Lex replied, stuttering like a kid who forget her speech. " Go on " said Devon, encouraging her to speak. " I think its best if we um, take things slow- I mean, not like that! Like, we can start doing it tomorrow! No...I'm busy tomorrow um- " " Maybe you do whatever you want and I'll call you when I get a clue, then we can meet up and discuss...Is that okay? " said Devon, feeling butterflies in his stomach, knowing that Lex blushed.
Lex said, " Yea..okay...I better get going! I, have a lot of work to do, heh " " See you! " he waved " Byee " Lex rushed outside, totally embarrassed. She stopped outside and thought about what happened, " AISHH! ".
She ran to the Zebra Crossing and when the Light turned to Red, Lex ran to the other side but suddenly stopped hearing all the people scream " MOVE! IT'S A BUS! "
She turned around and saw a Bus...coming closer, and closer, and closer and-
" LEX! " she heard a scream, Devon ran and pushed her out of the way.
They both stumbled and fell onto the pavement, Lex landing on top of him. She quickly lifted her chest and faced him, their eyes locking for what felt like an eternity.
Just then, a voice broke the moment. "Hey! Are you two okay?" It was a concerned passerby, looking alarmed.
Startled, Lex quickly pushed herself up, her heart racing. Devon blinked and sat up, brushing dirt from his clothes, confusion written on his face.
"Yeah, we're fine," Lex said, trying to sound casual despite her racing heart. She glanced at Devon, who seemed equally surprised.
" I'm Ashley, Nice to meet y'all. actually I would love to get a coffee with y'all sometime, here's my number! " she said, as lex copied the number. " Thanks byeee " said Ashley, as she moved on.
Leaving Lex and Devon in an awkward silence.
Devon finally let out a nervous laugh. "Well, that was unexpected."
Lex smiled, trying to ease the tension. "Yeah, definitely not how I imagined my day going."
They exchanged shy glances, both sensing that something had shifted between them in that brief moment.
" Wait a minute, who was that girl? " said Lex, as she looked back.
Lex and Devon didn't even notice how the girl looked like. Devon started, " What's her name...Asher? Ashlyn? " "Ashley! " " what? " " her name is ashley! " I replied.
Then we looked at each other and noticed how casual we're talking and cleared our throats, looking at the opposite directions.
" Thank you... " I said, looking at him. Devon smiled and nodded.
