I was making breakfast when I heard a voice behind me.
"Where are Weasley and Granger?" It was Draco.
"Why, do you miss them?" I asked sarcastically. Draco raised an eyebrow in disgust, but I caught the corner of his mouth twitching with amusement.
"Of course I do. I just want to French kiss them both," he replied, just as sarcastic. We both burst out laughing.
"Now seriously," he said, stepping closer to inspect what I was making. "An omelette?"
"Got a problem with an omelette?" I replied. "Oh, and they went out to gather ingredients for the potion."
I placed the omelette on a plate next to the salad I had made earlier. "By the way, Remus and Sirius won’t be here tonight. Full moon, you know... all the werewolf stuff."
"So… it’s just the two of us?" Draco asked, his cheeks turning slightly red.
"Yup," I answered, not giving it much thought.
"For how long?"
"Until tomorrow morning, around five."
"Anything left to do?"
"Nope. Are you going to eat, or am I having two breakfasts today?" I teased, trying to coax him into eating.
---
"Let’s go buy some stuff. I’m bored," Draco said, breaking the silence.
"Sure, but you know we’re in the Muggle world, right?" I asked, trying to gauge how he felt about it. He didn’t seem to care.
"I know," he said, smiling and revealing dimples on each cheek. "But, if you don’t mind, I’ll need to borrow some money. I promise I’ll pay you back once the war’s over." He seemed suddenly so happy.

When we got to the mall, I didn’t expect Draco to head straight for the jewelry section. He picked out a single pair of silver hoop earrings.
"I love these. Don’t you?"
"Of course," I replied, wanting to say more—maybe a compliment—but my cheeks burned, and I lost the nerve.
"You know, it would be nice to eat something. Want some ice cream?" He smiled at me. "I’d love some."
We spent the entire afternoon talking and eating ice cream.
When the sun started to set, I turned to him."Let’s go somewhere we can see the moon better, without light pollution."
His eyes lit up. "I’d love that."
I took his hand and led him to a nearby park. The park was filled with trees, flowers, and statues in a Greek style. Since it was already dark, no one else was around. I knew there was a beautiful lake nearby, a spot not many people knew about.
When we arrived, I sat on the edge of the lake, dipping my legs into the water. Draco did the same. We gazed at the moon and started talking. I don’t know why, but we began opening up to each other. Just as I was about to kiss him, we heard something—a soft noise.
A small black cat approached us, meowing. Draco’s face lit up like he’d seen an angel. He scooped the cat into his arms, but we kept talking.
Just when I thought the moment was lost, Draco leaned in and gave me a small kiss on the lips. Instinctively, I kissed him back, my tongue exploring his mouth. I lost track of time, but when we finally pulled away, the sun was beginning to rise.
"We should go back. Everyone’s probably already at the house," Draco said, avoiding my eyes so I wouldn’t see how red he was, but I noticed.
"Sure," I said, hoping this wouldn’t change anything, terrified that he’d start to hate me.
