Darkness surrounded me, thick and impenetrable. I couldn’t see a thing, but a voice whispered in my ear, repeating something I couldn’t understand. I strained to make out where the voice was coming from and what it was saying.
"Harry..." The voice rasped, like nails on a chalkboard. "Harry..." It grew softer, almost worried.
"Harry?"
I jolted awake, Draco shaking me on the cold ground. "Thank Merlin," he sighed in relief. "I thought I killed you or something."
"What are you talking about?" I asked, sitting up and rubbing my head.
"I don't know. I just turned around to tell you something, and... you fainted." He gently removed my hand and placed his own on my forehead, his touch soft and warm.
"Well, I feel fine now. Must’ve been something minor." I smiled at him. "Anyway, what did you want to tell me?"
"Well..." Draco hesitated, avoiding my gaze. "Don’t take it the wrong way, but it might be better if... you know..."
"I don’t know," I said, confused.
"If we keep this between us." His cheeks flushed as he looked away.
"You mean the kiss?" I asked, trying to catch his eyes.
"Yeah, that." His blush deepened. "But that doesn’t mean it can’t continue."
"I see..." I smirked. "You mean you want to date me but you're scared to tell anyone."
"Well, now that you put it like that..." He turned and started walking away, but I stopped him, leaning in to whisper in his ear. "Don’t worry, I understand. To be honest, I wanted to ask you the same. I can’t imagine how much Ron and Hermione will annoy me once they find out."
---
"Where the bloody hell have you been?" Ron yelled, shaking me awake. My head spun, and I nearly collapsed before he stopped and turned his anger on Draco.
"We went shopping," Draco said, trying not to laugh as I held my head.
"That’s not a bloody excuse!" Ron bellowed. "We searched for you both everywhere! Who goes shopping for 35 hours straight?"
Draco struggled to contain his laughter, though it was clear he was failing.
Ron dialed a number on his phone, grumbling, "Guess who finally showed up."
Five minutes later, Sirius and Remus arrived, both looking disappointed.
"What were you thinking?" Sirius scolded. "Especially you, Draco. You're supposed to be smarter."
"Being smart doesn’t always mean being responsible," Draco replied casually, despite the way Sirius glared at us like he wanted to drown us on the spot. Unlike Draco, I felt the weight of guilt pressing down on me.
Remus started lecturing us, but then Hermione stormed in and slapped both me and Draco.
"You witchy-bitchy! That hurt!" Draco protested, holding his cheek.
"I’ll slap you harder if you call me that again," Hermione said, her voice full of warning.
"Witchy-bitchy," Draco said, teasing her, and I was surprised at his boldness.
Hermione looked ready to murder him, but before she could strike, Sirius dragged Draco out of the room. Even from inside, I could hear them yelling in French at each other.
I couldn’t listen to it anymore. Exhausted, I went straight to bed without eating, ignoring Remus and Ron as they called after me. I didn’t realize just how tired I was until I collapsed onto my bed, slipping into the same unsettling dream that had been haunting me. I wanted to wake up and forget it, but sleep overtook me, and soon, I drifted into dreamless oblivion.
