We walked to the park, Emily had her headphones in listening to music and I was walking beside her. When we got there she took Charlotte out and started pushing her in the swing while I watch Cameron. He's a pretty chill baby, just staring out like he expects some amazing explosion to happen. We spent a while there. The baby's fell asleep again and Emily put them both in the stroller. "Do you remember when we walked here with our class?" she said out of nowhere. Emily was like that always saying something random. "Yeah I do. People were on the swings playing the game where they ducked under the others feet while they swung. Then there was you, with Brandon looking at the frogs from the lake." She smiled. "I miss that school, it was like a safe haven, even though I know people talked about me behind my back, they were always nice to my face and I appreciated it." Then she put the headphones back in her ears and went on a swing. I watched her as she swung, she looked like she's done this a million times, she probably has done it a lot. She looked sad while she swung as if it brought bad memories. We walked back at about 6:15 and set her table for dinner. When her stepmom came home with her other sister Mary, she gave a smile like she knew something was between me and Emily.
"Hey Nathen why don't you eat over for dinner were having steak." asked Marie. I said okay as Emily set out a new place for me in an empty seat. She and Mary had a quiet conversation, probably about me, I was Mary's buddy in seventh when we went to the first grade to help. She's taller now, only about to be in fifth grade. She looks a lot like Emily but she always cut her hair shorter and her eyes were bigger.
When we sat Marie looked at Emily who was sitting next to me, giving the same knowing smile.
"What" she said annoyed.
"Nothing, it's just that there's another seat there at the opposite side of me. You could've put him there" she said still smiling. I looked at Emily and could tell that she was keeping back something that she probably would get in trouble for saying.
"Yeah well maybe if I put him there it wouldn't be even and would've annoyed the heck out of me. You and I both know that when something isn't even or fair how I act." She said angrily giving her stepmom a look like she was cursing at her with her eyes. Her stepmom still looked at Emily, and I finally got what she was smiling about. "Oh! Mrs. Cowden, I have a girlfriend. Emily and I are just friends" I said
"I tried telling her that when we texted. She is to stubborn to believe us." Emily said not taking her eyes off of Marie. When I left Emily was putting the dessert bowls away.
"Tell your mother you'll be eating over every night" said Marie.
"Bye Nate." said Emily and Marie looked at her "What, its his nickname his friends call him" she said.
I got home and my mom came in looking hopeful "How was it" she said. "Her stepmom wants me to eat over every night." and my mom looked happy "Thats great" and left the room. I texted my girlfriend while I went into my room.
Nathen- Hey babe what's up?
Gianna- Nm just watching tv.
