The tall dark haired Valkyrie gestured toward Göll, who still looked uncertain but stepped forward with a small nod.
"You'll need to get settled in before the battles begin," Brunhilde said, her voice softening slightly. "We will prepare quarters for you here. In the meantime, Göll will show you around Valhalla."
Naruko followed Göll out of the building, her senses on high alert as she scanned her surroundings, just as she'd been trained. Valhalla was unlike anything she'd ever seen—massive, imposing structures loomed above her, their grandeur almost overwhelming. The air was crisp, carrying a sense of ancient power, and the sky was a strange mix of gold and deep indigo, casting everything in an ethereal glow. Strange beings that didn't look human—some clad in armor, others in ancient clothing—moved about outside.
Naruko's eyes darted from one towering structure to the next as she followed Göll through the streets. Every building seemed to defy the laws of physics—some floated mid-air, massive castles and fortresses hovering above the ground as if weightless. They cast long shadows over the cobblestone streets, their jagged spires stretching toward the sky, shimmering with an otherworldly glow. The foundations of these floating castles were etched with ancient symbols, pulsing faintly with energy, while thick chains of golden light tethered them to the earth, as if preventing them from drifting away entirely.
"This place..." Naruko murmured, her eyes wide in disbelief. "How is any of this possible?"
Göll glanced at her, offering a small, timid smile. "Valhalla isn't bound by the same rules mortals are used to. The gods shaped it—twisted reality to their liking. Everything here reflects their power and will."
As they walked further, Naruko noticed the ground beneath them changing. What had started as simple cobblestones morphed into a smooth, reflective surface, almost like glass but solid. It was translucent, revealing a glimpse of something below—a swirling, stormy sea of energy that seemed to stretch endlessly beneath the ground. She instinctively stepped back, her shinobi senses flaring, but Göll walked over it without hesitation.
"Don't worry," Göll said softly, noticing Naruko's reaction. "The Path of Eternity holds. It's enchanted by the gods themselves."
Naruko hesitated for only a second before stepping forward, feeling the unnatural yet firm ground beneath her. The sensation was strange, like walking on a thin layer of ice over a roiling ocean, yet it remained perfectly stable.
Overhead, more floating fortresses drifted lazily through the air. Some resembled grand temples with columns and statues of gods, towering even higher into the heavens. Others were warlike, fortress-like structures with battlements and cannons aimed into the distance, as if prepared for an impending siege. Every now and then, winged creatures soared between the structures, their feathers glistening like molten silver as they moved effortlessly through the sky.
Göll noticed Naruko staring and added quietly, "Those are the patrol angels. They watch over Valhalla and keep order, especially now with Ragnarok so close."
Naruko nodded, her mind still processing the sheer scale of everything. The unnatural beauty and power of Valhalla seemed endless. Statues of gods loomed everywhere, carved with such precision that they seemed almost alive. Some depicted figures locked in eternal combat, while others stood in regal, commanding poses, their expressions filled with divine pride.
As they continued walking, Göll pointed toward a massive gate in the distance, flanked by two impossibly tall statues of armored figures. "That's the Arena of Valhalla," she explained. "Where the gods and mortals will face off in Ragnarok. It's not open yet, but when the time comes, it'll be where everything is decided."
