The morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains of Aditi's childhood bedroom, casting a soft glow across the room. The familiar scent of jasmine lingered in the air, instantly bringing back memories of her carefree childhood. Aditi rolled over in bed, her heart fluttering with anticipation and anxiety. She couldn't shake the feeling that returning to Panipat would bring old memories rushing back—especially those of Rohit.

She dressed quickly, choosing a simple floral dress that flowed with her every movement. The colorful fabric was a stark contrast to the muted tones of her worries. Today, she would help her mother with the final preparations for Ananya's wedding, but she also hoped to get some time alone to gather her thoughts.

As she stepped into the kitchen, the rich aroma of her mother's special aloo parathas greeted her. Kavita hummed a cheerful tune as she flipped the golden brown bread on the hot griddle.

"Good morning, sweetheart! Ready to help with the wedding preparations?" her mother asked, her eyes shining with excitement.

"Absolutely, Mom," Aditi replied, though her mind wandered back to Rohit. Would he show up again today? She felt a mix of longing and apprehension at the thought.

Over breakfast, Aditi's father, Vikram, discussed the wedding plans enthusiastically. "Ananya's going to look beautiful! We need to make sure everything is perfect. The decorations are arriving today, and I want you both to help set them up." His eyes sparkled with pride, but Aditi noticed the way he subtly nudged her to involve herself more in the family's affairs.

After breakfast, Aditi and her mother headed to Ananya's house. As they arrived, Aditi felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her. Ananya's home was decorated with bright colors and flowers, buzzing with energy as family and friends prepared for the big day.

"Hey, Aditi! You made it!" Ananya exclaimed, wrapping her arms around Aditi in a warm hug. "I've missed you so much! You're going to help me look stunning for my wedding, right?"

"Of course! You'll be the most beautiful bride," Aditi replied, forcing a smile but internally grappling with her own feelings of uncertainty.

As the day unfolded, Aditi threw herself into the preparations, trying to shake off her worries. However, in the back of her mind, she kept hoping for a glimpse of Rohit. Her heart raced at the thought of seeing him again, wondering if he would come by to help with the decorations.

Finally, as the afternoon sun began to set, Rohit arrived, bringing a wave of energy that seemed to light up the room. He was accompanied by a couple of friends from the neighborhood, and as they exchanged greetings, Aditi's pulse quickened.

"Rohit! Glad you could make it!" Ananya said, pulling him into a hug. Aditi watched from a distance, a mix of joy and jealousy washing over her. His laughter echoed in the room, reminding her of the carefree days they once shared.

When he finally spotted Aditi, a smile broke across his face. "Aditi! It's great to see you again," he said, his voice warm and familiar.

"Hey, Rohit," she replied, her heart racing. "It's been a while."

"Too long," he agreed, his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer than necessary, causing Aditi's stomach to flutter.

As the group set to work decorating, Aditi found herself standing next to Rohit, their shoulders brushing against each other. The chemistry between them was palpable, and Aditi struggled to focus on the task at hand.

"Remember how we used to decorate the school for the annual day?" Rohit asked, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Of course! You always managed to get us in trouble with those silly pranks," Aditi laughed, the memory bringing warmth to her heart.

"Good times," he replied, his voice softening. "I've missed hanging out with you like this."

The comment stirred something deep within Aditi, and she felt her walls begin to crumble. "Me too, Rohit. It's nice to be back, but... everything feels different now."

"Change is hard," he said, his tone turning serious. "But some things never change, like the way I feel about you."

Aditi's heart skipped a beat. She felt the weight of his words, but before she could respond, the atmosphere shifted. Ananya's family had begun arguing about the placement of the decorations, and the lighthearted mood suddenly turned tense.

"Can you believe them?" Rohit whispered, leaning closer to Aditi. "It's supposed to be a happy occasion!"

Aditi chuckled softly, appreciating the way he found humor in the chaos. "I guess weddings bring out the best and worst in families."

Just then, Aditi's mother called her over. "Aditi, can you help me with these flowers?"

As she walked away, Aditi felt Rohit's gaze follow her, igniting a fire of longing within her. She helped her mother arrange the flowers, but her mind kept drifting back to their earlier conversation. Did he really mean what he said?

Later in the evening, as the decorations finally came together and laughter filled the air, Aditi stepped outside for a moment of fresh air. The stars were starting to twinkle in the deepening sky, and she found solace in the cool breeze.

Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. Turning around, she saw Rohit approach, his expression serious.

"Can we talk?" he asked, his voice low.

Aditi nodded, her heart racing as they walked further away from the bustling festivities. They found a quiet spot under a large tree, where the noise faded to a distant murmur.

"I've been thinking about us," Rohit said, running a hand through his hair. "It's like no time has passed, but everything has changed."

Aditi's heart raced as she met his gaze. "I feel it too, Rohit. But... what does that mean for us?"

Before he could answer, a loud commotion erupted from the wedding venue, pulling their attention back to the chaos inside. Aditi felt the moment slip away, and with it, the chance to uncover the truth of their feelings.

"Maybe we should get back," she suggested reluctantly, her heart heavy with unspoken words.

"Yeah, let's go," Rohit replied, but as they turned to leave, their hands brushed against each other, sending sparks of electricity coursing through Aditi.

As they walked back to the chaos of the wedding preparations, Aditi felt a mix of hope and dread. She longed to know where they stood but feared the consequences of crossing that line. With each passing moment, it became clear that their feelings for each other were undeniable, and the path ahead was fraught with uncertainty.
