The Next Day
Rehan's POV
I finished my surgery, still lost in thought, and began to change out of my scrubs.
Prerna
Two days.
48 and 18 hours.
Each tick echoing Prerna's teary eyes.
Her shaky voice.
Our unplanned encounter at Paragon Corporation's parking lot, three days ago.
Yet, the memory lingered.
Haunting me, taunting me. My mind refused to focus on anything.
I had talked to her on call the day before yesterday, but there's still something that's bothering me.
Was I truly concerned about Prerna so much?
Or was it something more?
Possessiveness? Protectiveness?
Or was it something I dared not to acknowledge?
My gaze drifted out of the window, overlooking the city.
But my thoughts remained still with Prerna. What was she doing right now? Is she okay?
Ohhh!!! Rehan...... STOP THINKING ABOUT HER!!!!

Just then my phone buzzed, snapping me back to reality.
Rohan.
My colleague, a friend.
I answered, "Hey, what's up?"
Rohan chuckled. "Remember when you told me there isn't any girl who'd go on a date with me?"
I teased, "Yeah, there isn't any girl exists, who'd go on a date with you, idiot."
Rohan laughed. "Actually, fate has other plans. I'm going on a date this afternoon."
I burst out laughing. "Stop joking! Are you out of your pranks list? You're telling me you're going on a date, and I'm supposed to believe you?"
Rohan's tone turned serious. "I'm not joking, Rehan. Her name is Prerna."

My grin froze.
Prerna?
The same Prerna?
My Prerna? Okay not mine Yet.
"Who's Prerna?" I asked, faking nonchalance.
Rohan's voice dropped to a whisper. "Mr.Singh's daughter. Your... patient."
My grip on the phone tightened.
Prerna.
With Rohan?
On a date? Unacceptable.

"Where and when?" I demanded, attempting to sound casual.
Rohan chuckled. "Café Bliss, 3 PM."
"Today?" I pressed.
"Yeah, in a few hours," Rohan confirmed.
"What's the plan?" I asked.
"We're meeting for coffee and for a small talk afterwards." Rohan explained.
My mind whirled.
"Did she agree easily?" I asked.
"Yeah, she seemed interested," Rohan replied.
Rohan's tone shifted.
"Rehan, why all the questions?"
I hesitated.
"Just curious," I said with a forced laugh.
"Curious?" Rohan repeated skeptically.
"Yeah, just making sure you're not getting into trouble," I improvised.
Rohan chuckled.
"Trouble? Me? Never!"
I forced a laugh.
"Right, sure."
Rohan's silence lingered.
"Okay, enjoy," I said, wrapping up the conversation.
"Will do. Thanks, Rehan. We'll catch up soon," Rohan replied.
"Yeah, soon," I echoed.
We ended the call.
My thoughts swirled back to Prerna.
Rohan.
Café Bliss.
3 PM.

Prerna's POV
I slipped into the red dress, Khushi's voice echoing in my mind.
"Red symbolizes confidence and passion."
I smiled, feeling empowered.
Next, I put on the rose quartz bracelet which Khushi had gifted me.
"For attracting love and positive vibes," she'd said.
I chuckled, skeptical but hopeful.
Maybe today would bring a change.
My thoughts drifted to Rohan. We'd talked briefly, but his warm voice put me at ease. Not like Rehan's cold, piercing gaze.
I pushed the thought away.
No room for Rehan in today's thoughts.
I styled my hair, applied light makeup, and grabbed my clutch.
