Third Person POV

~Flashforward- Moonlit Palm Motor Lodge, Los Angeles, California, 2015~

When his eyes open, there's a small moment of peace before the memories of the war over the last two years come rushing back to his mind, and he remembers that his family has been living in single-bed motels for the entire time. Blinking a few times and finding the rest of the bed empty, Derek quickly becomes worried, rolls over, and immediately lets out a breath when he sees his three-year-old daughter coloring while snacking on Cheerios from a Ziploc bag at the small table against the wall. While on the other side of the room, his wife's pacing around with their one-month-old son in her arms with a bottle, until, "Mommy?" Laura calls out quietly, not looking up from her drawing. And before Chloe turns around to respond, Laura adds, "Daddy's awake!"

Hearing that and seeing her say that without looking up, Derek's a bit surprised and shares a wide-eyed look with Chloe as she turns to face him with their son. "How did she—?" Derek asks in a quiet whisper as he climbs out of bed.

Her eyes flicker green with her just as quiet answer, "Magic." A hint of a smile appears on her face, waving her hand slightly to make the bed behind him, before her attention goes to the baby in her arms.

Walking over to Chloe, "Have you gotten any sleep?" He asks with a light kiss to her lips, and then their baby son, softly whispering, "Hey, Little Man."

"No, not really. I tried through... I really did." She shrugs, glancing down at their son in joking annoyance. "...Elijah Alan Hale here was fussy and..." Nodding a bit to their daughter. "...Laura kept poking me... in the face, wanting to draw." She rolls her eyes in slight amusement.

Suddenly interested in the idea of Laura drawing, he makes his way over. Leaning on the table next to her, Derek notices the Cheerios scattered out of the plastic bag on the edge of the table: "Hey Princess." He mumbles tiredly, pressing a kiss to the side of her head while she's still dragging the crayons across the paper.

"Hi Daddy!" The young Witch happily replies, dropping the crayon on the desk so quickly it rolls off the tabletop, and urgently looks up at him with bright, glowing purple eyes.

Laura using magic has always made parents a bit nervous because she hasn't figured out how to consciously control it yet, but when his eyes land on the colored pages in front of her, his worry turns to complete and utter panic as his eyes widen, but he tries to hide it so he doesn't scare his daughter. "Chlo..." Trying to keep his voice calm, "...Chlo, Sweetheart, come here and see what Laura drew." Turning on the lamp in the corner of the table as the sunsets through the windows.

Chloe immediately picked up on the hidden terror in his words and gently lays baby Eli onto the middle of the mattress before taking the few steps to Laura's other side and leaning over her slightly to see the drawings. "Oh..." She mutters, picking up the papers and looking through them. "Baby?" She asks, moving the papers out of her view to look down at Laura, who's already looking up at her in confusion, "What are these?"

The Little Witch's eyes flicker purple for a brief moment, her head dropping to stare at her lap. "The monsters..." She answers quietly, almost in fear.

Stepping back, Chloe's focus turns to the papers again; staring at them has her eyes glow green, allowing the drawing to move like a short film:
