Chen liu a son of a concubine watched his blood father lovingly press his lips against the empress's cheek. His father then proceeded to abandon all royal dignity and raise the 2nd prince Xiao chu up on his shoulder and put his legs on either side of his shoulders. His eyes were warm and  were poured with love a parent had forgotten their child. This was a look he had never seen on his heavenly father's face before nor had he experienced such protective and kind eyes from him

For a second he fantasized what it would feel like if his father loved him and his mother who was a forgotten concubine in the harem and be given his kind of love and support . But his father had always looked at him with overbearing and  adomonishing eyes filled with indifference.

People said that his father's eyes were the most beautiful alluring ones they had ever heard of but that was a rumor , no one  actually dared to look at the emperor's eyes except Chen liu and in his eyes his father's eyes were the coldest eyes he had ever seen. But today he witnessed the love and adoring look on his father's face for the first time but it wasn't directed at him so he couldn't look at it anymore so he ran off with his feet hitting the ground with speed a little child like him could afford.

With unknown curling in his stomach he went away from the scene of familial love and ran towards the tree at the other part of the palace where he usually goes to hide when something terrible happens to him and he isn't able to make sense out of it due to his young age .

He thought he would find his old comfort sitting beneath the ancient  Banyan tree with its many aerial roots supporting its large structure but alas today luck wasn't in the boy's favour.

His mother angered for no apparent reason  found him and oh boy was she annoyed at her son . He was nothing but a punching bag for his mother whenever she felt wronged and she would beat him, slap him and look at him with eyes lidden with disgust so potent that Chen liu would fill a chill down his spine.

He would ask for mercy but his mother had none inside of her when she was furious .Perhaps she had been born wrong .

This time as well he would be beaten until he would be crying with caring enough to protect him . His grandmother used to protect him when he was younger and they visited her mom's maternal house but here in the palace where the moto was dog eat dog he could not escape his birth mother's cruelty.

She screamed at him saying," You are such a disgrace , you disgusting thing nobody even likes you where had you gone with that pathetic face ? How much more do you want to embarrass me after how hard I have to work to feed you everyday ?huh!!!! , tell me you son of a lecherous man. "

"I should've known you would turn like your father and do shit like this .!!!! What else could be expected from a child of that man?!"

Chen liu stuttered,"I-I 'mm s-s-sorry momma ii wouldn't...do it again ."
But she didn't listen and dragged that child of five by the hair into the house and proceeded to do the most heinous of things to her son .

After half an hour concubine yu soothed her child rocking him in her lap telling him that she's sorry and that what she did was  wrong .

But Chen liu kept crying loudly .so his mother forcefully held his arms and rocked him front and back like a rag doll and said with a strained voice  "why won't you stop crying?"

His cries were instantly stopped . The reason why he had kept crying even after his mother kept apologizing is because this has happened plenty of times before and after the first time he thought it was a mistake that his mother was angry at him that time and it wouldn't happen again but after it happening for many times did he finally understand that this woman doesn't love him at all she pretends to love him and

if this was love then he was better off without it .
