The alarm went off on Vijay's phone, pulling him from his slumber. He reached to switch it off, then turned to look at his wife. Kaveri wasn't there. The sound of water splashing told him she was in the bathroom, starting her day.
His thoughts drifted back to the previous night. They had fought over something petty, and both had gone to bed without dinner. Vijay felt like an idiot for raising his voice at Kaveri. He loved her deeply, but love wasn't an excuse to behave like that. He sighed, knowing he had to make things right.
Kaveri came out of the washroom dressed in a beautiful pink salwar. She was truly a sight for his sore eyes and heart. Determined to address what happened, Vijay got up and approached her as she hung her towel on the rack.
Vijay : Kaveri...
Kaveri just stared and at him and without saying a word and just walked out of the room. Vijay sighed as he knew today was going to be tough day for him.
He quickly freshened up and sat on the swing outside, scrolling through his phone aimlessly, trying to think of a way to break the ice. Just as he was lost in thought, Kaveri appeared like an angel, holding a cup of coffee.
Kaveri : Inthangge. Coffee. (She said without looking at him)
Vijay : Thanks ma. Nee kudichitya ? (He asked, sensing her upset mood.)
Kaveri : Hmmmm...
Vijay : Hmmmm na ?
Vijay grinned, knowing exactly what her "hmmm" meant. Still, being cheeky, he pressed on.
Kaveri : Hmm na kudichutten nu arutham. (Kaveri said with a irritated tone. The frustration from the previous night was evident.)
Vijay : Eiii enna nee, enna vittutu nee mattum thaniya kudichitte, eppothumme morning coffee namme rendu perum onna thaane kudipom ?
Kaveri MV: **Intha aaluku enna adikadi short term amnesia va ? Thungi yenthrichathum netthu enna nadanthuchunu nyabagamme irrkatha ? Epavume mothailernthu aramipara ?**
Kaveri did not say anything and just stared and him. He stare was enough to pierce his soul.
Vijay MV: **Aiyoo...ippadi moraikurale. Ithu serri paatu varuthu, valakam polle nammele sorry ketka vendiyathaan. Enna irunthalum nethu namba konjum over-ah thaan scene pottutom.**
Vijay placed his cup on the swing and place both his hand on Kaveri's shoulder to pull her closer to him. He tried to maintain eye-contact with her while caressing her shoulders.
Vijay : Cheri, sorry ma. Nethu konjum over-ah behave pannithen. Sorry (He asked in a very cute pouting manner)
Kaveri : Yengge epparthalum enna hurt panikitte irrukinge ? Naathan avan en friend-nu sollitenle ? Appo yenge neenge appadi katthuninge ?
Vijay : Cheri ma. Sorry di. Avan unne di pottu koopte udanne, naan konjum oru maari possesiveness-le over-react panniten. Sorry.
Kaveri was feeling a little bit happy that he finally admitted he acted that way because he was feeling possesive but she did not like the way he expressed it.
Kaveri : Atthukaaga neenge appadithaan yen kitte pessuvingala ? Avan eppadi en kitte message pannuna, naan enna oddena avan koode poyi duet paduvanne ?
Vijay : Serri...sorry. But irunthalum, addutha thadave nee chumma paadithaan paarren..... Enna thavire verra yevan aachum nee paadure kettalei thooku maatikuvan. Ennaku vellai micham...Hahahahaha (He said while laughing imagining the the absurdity of the situation)
Kaveri annoyed with his teasing this early in the morning swatted him on the shoulder and gave him a light knock on the head.
Kaveri : Yengge ippadi irrukinge ?
Vijay : Hahahaha, valikuthu di...serri serri sorry. Ingge vaa.
He pulled her into a tight hug. This time, Kaveri reciprocated.
Vijay : I love you di
Kaveri : Hmmm (She said while snuggling into his chest)
Vijay : Hmm ah ? Thiruppi sonna thaan ennavan ?
Kaveri : Solla mood ille (She was like trying to break the hug)
Vijay : Edhey mood illaiya ? Yen di ? (Vijay said while trying to look at her face while hugging her)
Kaveri : Illa na illa. Ennaku eppo thonutho appo solluren.
Vijay : Yen di ippo appadi solre ? Naan thaan sorry ketuten le ?
Kaveri : Theriyum.... aana thirupi solla maatten.
Vijay : Paathiya, ippo nee yendi childish-a behave pannure ?
Kaveri : Paanittu porren...
With a smirk, Kaveri broke free from the hug. She knew she was being petty but she wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine from last night. Vijay just looked at her, amused, understanding what she was up to.
Kaveri : Seri, naanu, Ganga akka, Yamuna and Narmadha koode shopping porren. Varre evening aagum. Lunch ennaku vendam. Neenge Paati Thathaa koode saptrunge.
Vijay : Edhey shopping poriya ? Yerkenave en kitte ne I love you thiruppi sollule, ipo ithule verra enna thaniya vittu poriya. Naanum koode varren.
Kaveri : Atthu ellam moodiyathu. Inniku enga girls day out. Naan yerkanave cab book panniten. Athum illame, mama koode engga koode varule, neenge maatum ippo ethuku siva poojaile karadhi poonthe mathiri vara paakuringe ?
Vijay : Enna Karadi ya ? Enna paarthe Karadi maathiri ya di irruku ?
Just then a cab enterred their house lawn and parked in front of Kaveri mom's house. Narmadha ran out of the house and saw the cab. She also saw her favourite mama and akka where at the balcony. Waving to the both of them she asked Kaveri to come down.
Kaveri : Itho varen di. Bag eduthu varren
Narmadha : Okay akka. Bye mama
Vijay waved at her with a smile. Though he was kinda bummed that his wife is going out with her siblings but at the same time, he was kinda reliefed that she forgot about the meet-up with that Aadhi. Or so he thought....
Kaveri : Naan varrurathuku late ayidum. Neenge lunch saaputu vellaiye paarunge. Bye.
Vijay : (Sulking with a pouting face) Bye.

The day passed quickly for both of them. Kaveri left off with her sibling to go shopping. The sibling had so fun and shopped for clothes and other household items. Meanwhile, Vijay was engrossed in his work and meetings did not realised that it was already evening and Kaveri had return home. He did not even realise she was back until she waved her hand in front of his face.
Kaveri : Yennega....helloo
Vijay : Hey! yeppa ma vanthe ? Naan gavanikeve ille.
Kaveri : Neenge thaan ungge laptop kulle poonthutingele. Approm eppadi naan vanthathai gavanippinge ?
Vijay : Okay atthe viddu. Shopping ellam OK va ? Ellarukumme purchase panniyacha ?
Kaveri : Hmm panniyachu. Cheri naan refresh agitu kelamburan. Cab innum 2 hours kulle vanthurum.
Vijay : Edhey cab-a ?! Ippo edhuku ?!
Vijay asked pretending to have forgotten about Kaveri's meetup with the friend of hers at The Rooftop.
Kaveri : Naan thaan netthey unggekitte sonnenle. Aadhi meet pannethaan. Unggelaiyum koopten, neengethaan vaara maatennu oru drama pottingele...appro enna ?
Vijay : Naan varre maaten thaan sonne, aana unne drop panna maatten nu sollelaiya ?
Kaveri couldn't control her annoyance anymore and confronted him straight to his face because she clearly remembered what he had said.
Kaveri : Unngeluku enna part-time amnesia va ? Netthu thaan sonninge engaiyo po, eppadiyo po nu ? Ippo maattum ethuku ippadi maathi solringe ?
Vijay : Netthu etho kovathulle oru flow le solliten. Atthu ellam serious ah eduthukuviya nee ? Mottha koode neenge ellam cab le ponnathu ennaku sutthama pudikile, but etho thonaikku neenge siblings 4 perum irrukinge endrathallai, naan summa irrunthuten. Ippo therinja unne intha rathiri thaniya anuppa solriya ? Ennale mudiyathu. Naan thaan drop pannuven. (Vijay said firmly)
Kaveri too did not book a cab because she knew he would never let her travel alone at night. Still, she couldn't resist teasing him.
Kaveri : Atthu illenge....
Vijay : Vala vala nu argue panname poyi kelambura vellaiya paaru. Naan keele poyi Thathaa Paatiye parthuthu varren.
After spending some time talking to his grandparents, he went up to his room to check up on Kaveri. He pushed the door open and his breath got hitched at the sight of his wife.
