"Hero's quests are world-defining events. They have made and broken empires, altered the course of human civilization, and shifted the balance of power on Olympus." Grover's voice resonated with gravity as they embarked on their journey. "A quest is a sacred thing... and to be charged with one is to be in conversation with the gods themselves."

As they ventured deeper into the heart of a bustling city, Inez sat by the window of the taxi, gazing out at the vibrant tapestry that was New York City. Skyscrapers soared into the sky, and the streets pulsed with life. In the back seat, Percy fidgeted restlessly, while Annabeth occupied the window seat opposite Inez, with Grover up front.

Once they reached a bus station, they thanked the taxi driver and disembarked.

As they stepped onto the bus, Inez's frustration bubbled to the surface at the thought of sitting next to Annabeth.

"Percy, get over here!" she snapped, her voice sharp and demanding as she gestured toward the rear seats.

Percy blinked, caught off guard by Inez's sudden outburst. However, her tone left little room for negotiation. With a resigned sigh, he trudged over and settled into the seat beside her, the unspoken tension palpable.

"Just sit down," Inez muttered tersely, her grip on his arm firm as she practically dragged him into the seat.

Feeling the weight of the charged atmosphere, Grover quickly took a seat next to Annabeth, leaving Inez and Percy to navigate their silent confrontation.

Annabeth scoffed and tugged Grover closer to her.

"There is no way this is what 'sacred' smells like," Percy remarked, his expression reflecting his disgust as he eyed a man nearby.

"We're soldiers on a mission," Annabeth reminded him. "It's not a vacation."

"Thanks for clearing that up," Percy replied sarcastically.

Inez stifled a laugh into her hand, amused by their exchange.

"But if this is so important, why didn't Chiron spring for plane tickets? This feels like a low priority, doesn't it?"

"Sorry, I assumed someone had told you," Grover interjected apologetically. "Percy, it's not just the monsters who'll be trying to stop us. You're a forbidden child. Zeus might decide to take a shot at you himself. The sky is his domain. Traveling through it would be like serving you up on a silver platter."

"Yeah—no one mentioned that," Percy muttered, turning away.

"You know, Grover, I'd rather have spikes shooting out of my hair than sit in this seat," Inez said, covering her nose with the sleeve of her shirt.
