Sofia was almost done with the chapter she was reading before a shadow towers over her, causing her to look up from her book. She sees a man but due to her glasses she couldn't get a good look at him. She raised her sunglasses and placed them on top of her head. She flashed him a flirty smile, of course she knew what she was doing. The man towering over her was absolutely stunning. "Hey." she said in a sort of low tone.
"So you're my new neighbor?" Nicholas returned the smile, as if he wasn't already smiling from ear to ear.
"I believe so, and who do I owe the pleasure?" She says slyly, tilting her head a bit.
"Nicholas but you can call me Nick, a beautiful girl like yourself must have a beautiful name to match." He lowers his hand for her to shake and she shakes his hand in return. He leans down a bit and places a tender kiss on her hand. Sofia, a bit taken aback from this but found it endearing.
"I'm Sofia but you can call me yours." She says confidently, their hands staying in each others for a bit before they both drew their hands away. Nicholas chuckled a bit before softly nodding.
"I would like that, so you live here alone or?" He asked, keeping eye contact.
"No unfortunately, I moved here with my mother and I guess you could say my stepfather."
"You guess?" He questioned, his face expression changes to a slightly puzzled one.
"She just married the man a week ago after knowing him for 5 months, a bit insane if you ask me." She explains.
"I guess the heart wants what it wants." He jokes. He pauses before opening his mouth to say something. Before he could a woman walks out the house in a robe.
"Sofia get inside, your father wants to talk to you!" Devora shouts before stepping back inside.
"Your father, ugh what a joke." They both start laughing as Nicholas helps her up.
Sofia looks up at him once she is on her feet, she couldn't help but stare at him, he notices and chuckles.
"See something you like?" He winks before wetting his lips with his tongue.
"I damn sure do but there is something on your face." She laughs as she wets her thumb and wipes the dry blood from just below his bottom lip. He couldn't help but smile at this small action, she was gentle, she didn't want to hurt him and he liked that.
"SOFIA!!!" Devora shouted from inside the house. Only causing Sofia to roll her eyes in response.
She sighed before speaking once more. "Stay outta trouble pretty boy." She grabs her book from the grass and lowers her glasses back to her nose before turning to walk away.
"I can't promise that beautiful!"
The door shuts and the disappointment settles in. He wished he could've spoken to her more. There was something about her that he liked, he just couldn't put his finger on it. Maybe it was her innocence, but he knew that it was more to her.
Sofia steps inside and it was just like she stepped out of lala land and back into reality. Her mother and Evan sat on the couch as he brings the phone from his ear.
"Hey princess we have an incredible photoshoot planned for you. It's for Playboy. I just got off the phone with Hugh Hefner, he loves your work and wants you to be on the cover and centerfold of his May cover." And right then is when Sofia's face lit up, she always wanted to model for Playboy. She thought the girls were the most beautiful women in the world.
"No way, you're lying! Don't lie to me this is literally a dream!!" Sofia said as she sat on the floor next to him with her hands intertwined together. He lifts her chin and shakes his head. "No this is for real, you are to arrive at the mansion on Monday, so you need to watch how you eat and make sure you stay in the gym. You look good but you can always look better." He explains which made her a bit weary and self conscious about how she looked currently but she knew he was just looking out for her.
"I'm proud of you baby, I know this is something you've wanted for a long time. You deserve it for all i've put you through." Devora smiles and brings Sofia into a loving hug in which Sofia returns.
"Thanks mama, I can't believe it. I'm going to go work out right now!" Sofia exclaims as she heads up stairs to her room. Evan and his wife laugh at her excitement.
Sofia had been working out everyday, 2-3 times a day as her father recommended. She changed her diet completely even though her diet was already really healthy to her terms. But now she only ate once a day, her meal consisted of a grapefruit, two poached eggs and strictly water. But she was willing to do anything to make sure she looked absolutely perfect. She had to. She didn't want to disappoint Hugh Hefner and have him change his mind as soon as he saw her in person.
She hadn't seen Nicholas much the past few days but sometimes when she would go on runs she would hear screaming coming from his house. It worried her a bit but she was also curious. What could be going on? Was he okay? She wondered, she wondered a lot but chose to stay out the way. She did miss talking to him but didn't know if he felt the same. Their first interaction was drilled into her head. It was all she could think about as well as getting her body right.
But it was finally the day she would be going to the Playboy Mansion. She decided to keep her face natural for when they do her make up. She curled her hair a bit and changed into a tight fitting black Chanel dress with black heels to match. After all, they always said Black was slimming.
She put on her sunglasses as she dashed out of the house to insure she wouldn't be late. She hopped in the blacked out Escalade and she was off.
Nicholas watched from his bedroom window, shirtless with water droplets falling from his wet hair. He sighed as he brought the towel to his hair again and continued drying his dark brown locks. He plopped himself on the bed. He hated that he had been kind of avoiding her, he would notice when she went on runs, how she would read her book on the porch in the early hours of the morning with a cigarette to her lips, leaving lipstick on it and how she would get changed by the window.
But a part of him liked just watching her from afar, she was taking over his mind, she was all he thought about. But the fights with his father had gotten progressively worse and he knew that sometimes he had a tendency to take his anger out on people. He didn't want to accidentally do that to her and make her uncomfortable to the point she wouldn't want to talk to him anymore.
He needed to get out this house, get out of his head. And he did exactly that.
