The trip to Scotland was long and tiring, having to fly 2 hours by plane and then 4 hours by train to get to the town that was at the oceanside left me exhausted.

I had a long week ahead of me and it was already draining me.

You see I work in Central London for the Specialist Crime and Operation Unit in the Homicide department as a Forensics Examiner. I basically analyze fingerprints, DNA of blood, saliva, hair, skin, and more at crime scenes.

Recently there's been a chain of murders all across the UK which has made my job much more complicated as I have to travel from one crime scene to another. Sure I can just stay in London and wait for the evidence to be sent from one part of the UK to another but that just takes too much time and the killer is gaining more time as we speak.

So here I am, in Scotland.

Not a place in my bucket list but it will have to do.

I was at the crime scene which was near the ocean. So far all of the victims have been rich individuals, possibly tying them somehow together but I wasn't up to speed with the investigation.

The body was found in the rocky area of the shore where the waves crashed onto the rocks. This place was a known tourist spot as people could walk on the rocks and take pictures here. Now it was a crime scene.

The victim is a 24-year-old male, struck in the head, with multiple stab wounds, and then possibly drowned. I took some time to examine the body with a colleague of mine.

Surprisingly I found a fingerprint. It was on the victim's arm, stained with blood. A few pictures were taken and a blood sample just in case.

I sighed and yawned, looking around in my crouching position as my part of the job was done for now. As I looked at the open water further away where the bigger rocks were I saw something move in the water, my curiosity got the best of me and I got up, excusing myself from the scene. I ventured away from the crime scene and to the open area of the rocky shore. I ended up near an open cave with a lower water stream that probably reached my shin. I looked around the dim cave, not seeing anything interesting besides hearing the blaring of seagulls above and the sounds of the ocean on my left.
