Being a demigod is hard. That's something everyone here knew. Our life was always planned by the fates to be short yet all we ever do is risk our lives even more for our parents. Some of us were more than willing to do just that Luke Annabeth whereas others are more resentful and only do it so others don't have to. At least that's what they believe.

An hour ago I was leaving my cabin to go meet up with Drew, my best friend, when Lee told me to go to the infirmary to check on a new camper. I've always wanted to go on a quest not to prove myself to Apollo, even if that is some of the reason, but to prove myself to the rest of the campers. Compared to the rest of the Apollo cabin I've always been more pessimistic and a lot less trusting, especially around cabin 11. The Stoll brothers’ have pickpocketed me one too many times. The cabin counsellor, Luke, is nice though I've always seen him as an older brother ever since he helped me when I ran away from the foster care people. I also met Thalia then and a couple weeks later Annabeth who's the same age as me only a couple of months older.

The weather has been acting up more frequently with loud clashes of thunder and lightning. Something or someone has made Zeus mad.

When I arrived at the infirmary I saw Annabeth looking over the new kid. “ What's his name?”
Annabeth jumped slightly startled, another thing  that was different was that I could be really quiet when I wanted to be(most of the time) and ‘blended in with the shadows’ according to Michael. “ Percy Jackson, he drools when he sleeps and talks about his maths teacher who was actually a kindly one”, despite Annabeth not being my closest friend we were still close and could hold a conversation if it was a topic we were both interested in. I could already tell she was intrigued by him. I had gotten extremely good at reading people's emotions though Annabeth was more difficult than most her's were still not impossible to depict.

“That's… surprising. Why would Plu- Hades bother to send them after him unless he's a child of the big three”.
“I don't think so,” Annabeth replied. “Surely they're not stupid enough to break it a second time.”
“Maybe, maybe not. You know they can't keep it in their pants”. Then thunder rumbled- Zeus always has to be so freaking dramatic.
“That's true”, she muttered back quietly.
I smiled back softly, “You can go if you want to now.”
“Thanks, Andy.I’m going to prepare for capture the flag.”
“No problem, Smartie.”

Annabeth left and I started getting the nectar and ambrosia from the cabinets when I heard Percy groan. “Do you know what's going to happen at the solstice and can we get a quest”. Although it probably wasn't the best idea to ask him right away, I did and of course he just looked oblivious, stuttering, “what?”

Fan-freaking-tastic barely anyone knows what's going on and ones that do, won't tell us. How are Annie and I ever meant to get a quest?

Later, my sister Sydney took over and told me Chiron wanted to see me in the big house. I haven't even been able to talk to Drew yet! Chiron was talking about the chances of us getting a quest depending on if his suspicions were correct. They most likely were. Even Mr. D seemed to agree but didn't look overly happy it was because of the new kid. Mr. D was also a bit nicer to me than others, the gods know why. Maybe it's to do with my missing memories that Dionysus knows but is not kind enough to share them. However, even Chiron doesn't know or at least not everything and when I've asked he usually dismisses it by saying, “I swore on the river Styx not to say”, or some other nonsense like that. I mean really what could be that bad or even dangerous about it.

We've been talking for about an hour already when Percy walked in crying out, “Mr. Brunner!”
“Ah, Percy,” he said. “Now we have four for pinochle.” He was offered the chair to the right of Mr. D which was when I saw he didn't look nearly as sickly as before meaning the nectar and ambrosia helped. Then Dionysus heaved a heavy sigh looking over Percy with his bloodshed eyes and said: “Oh, I suppose I must say it. Welcome to Camp Half-blood. There. Now don't expect me to be glad to see you”. And there goes the famous lines of Mr. D.
