Perseus had moved into his cabin the next morning and everyone was talking about the hellhound. Behind his back of course. Barely anyone went near him; the Hermes cabin was scared of him so he only ever battled Luke and I. Luke was more about teaching him whilst I just defeated him.
Annabeth and I still taught him ancient greek but she was a lot more distracted so less work got done. She would walk away muttering, “quest… Poseidon?... Dirty rotten… got to make a plan…”
Percy was confused to say the least.
That night I had more nightmares. It was the same one I've had for about a month now: a huge dark cavern with a chasm the size of a city block in the middle. That wasn't the worst part though there was a voice of pure evil and malice almost commanding me to join him. Join him in what I didn't know. They always got interrupted when getting to that part. As if someone were to s Ares to even let me consider his offer.
It was interrupted today by Lee telling me Mr D and Chiron wanted to talk to me about something. I made my way over while it was still dark outside a d thunder rolled over hills. The rest of my cabin was preparing to play a morning volleyball game against the satyrs.
I walked up to the front porch of the Big House where Dionysus sat at the pinochle table with a diet coke like every other day. “Ah Andromeda. Just the person we need,” Dionysus said. I still found it odd that Mr D called me by my correct name, the only other people whose name he said right were his children- Castor and Pollux. “We are aware you would like to go on a quest.” Chiron stated.
“Well obviously I've only asked multiple times,” thankfully I said that in my head. I don't want to ruin my chances of a quest and instead madness being a closer chance. “Yes. Can I go on one now?”
“You may, if Percy accepts.”Perseus! Why him of all people? He's probably the reason this storm is going on.
“There's no chance it can be anyone is there?”
“No.” Chiron said.
“Alright. I'll do it. What about Annabeth?”
“I'm right here,” she took off her Yankee's cap and became visible next to Chiron. “I'm going as well.”“So is it going to be a group of three or four?”
“That depends on what the Oracle tells Percy. If it doesn't specify a number then it shall be you, Annabeth and Percy. If it says four then there will be another addition of Percy's choice.”
“Speaking of Peter Johnson, I sent Hoover to go get him.”“Does he mean Grover?” I whispered to Annabeth.
“I think so.” She replied. Huh, that's the first time I've heard that one.“If you want to hide or go invisible I'd do so now,” Chiron said. Annabeth went invisible and I just stepped into the shadows. Not long after, Percy came up to us with Grover and didn't seem to notice me.
“Well, well,” Mr D said without looking up. “Our little celebrity. … Come closer and don't expect me to kowtow to you mortal, just because old Barnacle-Beard is your father.”
A net of lightning flashed across the clouds and thunder shook the windows of the house. Way to go Mr D.
“Blah, blah, blah,” Dionysus said. “If I had my way, I would cause your molecules to erupt in flames. We'd sweep up the ashes and be done with a lot of trouble. But Chiron seems to feel this would be against my mission at this cursed camp: to keep you little brats safe from harm.”
“Spontaneous combustion is a form of harm, Mr D,” Chiron added.
“Nonsense. Boy wouldn't feel a thing. Nevertheless, I've agreed to restrain myself. I'm thinking of turning you into a dolphin instead, sending you back to your father.”
Please do.“Mr D–” Chiron warned.
“Oh, all right,” Dionysus relented. “There's one more option. But it's all deadly foolishness.” Dionysus rose, “I'm off to Olympus to the emergency meeting. If the boy is still here when I get back, I'll turn him into an Atlantic bottlenose. Do you understand? And Perseus Jackson, if you're at all smart, you'll see that's a much more sensible choice than what Chiron feels you must do.”
