Come morning time and I was drooling on the couch cushion. Slowly, I got up and shuffled my way to the bathroom. Relieving myself, washing my hands and brushing my teeth was my "must do" every morning. I did shave my newly grown beard, as I do every other day, mainly because I thought I looked better without it.

I went back to my-- Christy's room, to get some clean clothes and settled for my Pluto shirt and a pair of blue skinny jeans. Heading back to the bathroom, I got undressed for a shower.

Let's skip ahead, you don't need to know the details of my shower.

When I got out, I walked to the kitchen for some breakfast. The kids were awake and eating breakfast as usual, but Christy wasn't. I didn't see her here and that did worry me a bit.

"Where's your mom?" I asked Lilly.

"Out back. I don't know why. She just said she would eat out there," she told me. I nodded and walked to the back door.

"You okay?" I ask, startling her.

"What? Oh, yeah, I'm fine," she gave a weak smile.

"Don't lie to me, Christy. Can you come in here for a minute? I want you in there when I tell the kids."

She sighed and got up out of the lawn chair and followed me back into the kitchen.

"Kids," they all stopped chewing their cereal and looked at me. "I have something to tell you." They just continued looking at me, not saying a word. I continued, "Me and your mom are going to," I paused, looking for the right words, "split up."

"What does that mean?" Lando asked.

"It means I won't live here with your mom anymore."

"But where will you go?" Lincoln asked as he set his spoon down in his bowl.

"I'll be living with Rhett. Hopefully not far from here, so I can still see you guys, but me and Rhett, we are like, together."

"I knew it!" Lilly exclaimed. I will admit, it took me a bit by surprise.

"Knew what?"

"That you and Rhett liked each other. I had this gut feeling that something would happened between the two of you," she explained.

"Oh, well your gut feeling was correct. I was looking for a place for he and I to move in together and I found one last night really close. I was going to take him to look at it today."

"That's great!" Christy smiled.

I just kept looking at Lando through all if this. He seemed so confused and I hated doing this to him, just leaving and moving in with someone he saw as an uncle figure. But I just looked away, and smiled at the others.

---time skip*12.00pm later that day---

I got Rhett and took him to see the house I found. It was great, he loved it! So I signed the paperwork for it after the house tour and took Rhett back to his house so we could pack our things.

Lando came into the room while I was packing my suitcase. "Daddy, why are you leaving?" He asked, a sad look in his eye.

I took a deep breath and put him in my lap. "I'm going to live with Rhett for a while, that's all." He just looked down at his lap and played with his fingers. "Hey, I'll only be five minutes away from here, you can visit whenever you want! I'll come down here and see you guys all the time, okay?"

"Okay," he said, still sad.

"But there will need to be a man of the house while I'm gone. Can you handle that?" I asked to cheer him up. He looked at me and nodded. "That means you have to watch your brother and keep him out of trouble. The same with your sister. And you'll have to take care of mommy."

"I do that now!" He said, obviously proud of himself for it. "Well at least the last part," he laughed. It made me smile. At least he wasn't sad anymore.

"I know you do! Now just keep an eye on your brother and sister and everything will be fine, okay?"

"Okay," he said with a reassuring smile.

I gave him a hug and he walked out of the room. I continued packing and thought about how my new life with Rhett would be.
