Hello guys, Blue here,
I just wanted to come on here and express the inspiration of this book, and kind of bring to light some things that should be addressed.
Although this book is a work of fiction, this idea wouldn't have happened without seeing what had occurred with SEUNGHAN from RIIZE.
There's so much about this case that is wrong, and all of which could've been avoided. Firstly, Seunghan deserved better, and should've been protected by SM Entertainment. They did not do anything to ensure his safety, and did nothing to help him feel supported in his decision to return to the group. Knowing that your artist was already struggling, and not giving him the confidence to feel safe in his decision is why he felt compelled to decide what he did, and I stand that SM is a willing bystander in this whole ordeal. SM does not care for RIIZE and Seunghan as individuals, and the suffering they are being put through is just collateral they are putting as "worth it" due to the monetary value they bring to the company.
Secondly, and honestly, the most important thing I want to bring forth is the importance of understanding that your actions have repercussions. Sending death threats, and slandering someone's name because you just want to hurt them has a HUGE impact on someone's mental health and perception of self. It is not trendy to be a bully, and no amount of justification will make the narrative that you want to put forward seem right. To the people who were sending hate to Seunghan and RIIZE, the Knetz hiding behind their screens and unanimity, remember that your words have the power to cut someone down. To the people engaging in any sort of cyberbullying, please think before pressing that send button. No matter if they know it is you writing this post, or they don't, please remember that like you there is someone on the receiving end. If you are being cyberbullied or targeted by someone online, know that you are loved and that you do not deserve to be treated like that. My DMs are open to you if you need some support.
Thirdly, a true fan would never treat their idol like that. Would never willingly jeopardise their idols' happiness due to selfish reasons. You would never make them feel unloved and underappreciated. You would NEVER send funeral wreaths and send them threats. Being a true fan is seeing what makes them happy, and supporting them through it. You don't own your idols. Your idols are human beings with feelings.
This story is a commentary on what the repercussions are for this type of treatment, and is a work of fiction entirely. This is not fan fiction on the matter, because nothing about this experience should be romanticised. I want to bring awareness to the toxicity of pop culture in a way that is entertaining but also deals with the topics at hand in the most realistic way possible because I don't think it is talked about enough. This story may have been inspired by the events that occurred with RIIZE and Seunghan, but the story itself is mine, and is not affiliated with RIIZE and Seunghan at all.
Anyways, for the people who have read and stayed till the end of this author's note, thank you so much for reading, it really means a lot to me. I hope you enjoy this book, and find some solace through Kairo Sato and Natalia Lopez. Your comments are always welcome, and I'd love to hear what you have to say.
Lots of love,
Blue 💙
