Broken bonds

(a song)

We used to be a trio, strong and free,
Laughed together, you and me,
But now the echoes of our laughter fade,
Two hearts drift, and one remains betrayed.

I thought we'd last forever, through thick and thin,
But I guess I was wrong, where do I begin?
The memories haunt me, but you seem fine,
While I'm left here, trying to rewind.

I just hate the fact that we were once so close,
Now I'm standing here, feeling like a ghost.
Nevermind, you left me in the cold,
Guess friendships are fragile, easy to fold.
Trios are the worst, they never stay,
Two walk off, and one's left to stray.

I saw you laughing, but not with me,
The bond we had, now a distant dream.
You moved on, and I’m stuck in the past,
Wondering why good things never last.

We were together, happy as could be,
But now it feels like you never needed me.
I tried to hold on, but you let go,
Now I'm lost in a friendship that I'll never know.

I just hate the fact that we were once so close,
Now I'm standing here, feeling like a ghost.
Nevermind, you left me in the cold,
Guess friendships are fragile, easy to fold.
Trios are the worst, they never stay,
Two walk off, and one's left to stray.

So here I stand, alone once more,
Wondering what all of this was for.
But I'll move on, though it's hard to see,
That maybe someday, I'll be free.
