San Francisco, 2014
The city burned.
Y/n's breath came in ragged gasps as he darted through the streets, the heat of the fires stinging his skin. Screams echoed in the distance, mixing with the monstrous roars that sent shockwaves through his chest. Every building around him seemed to crumble, collapsing into piles of rubble, blocking the roads, and sending jagged pieces of glass and metal raining from the sky.
"MOM!" Y/n's voice cracked, raw from shouting, but he couldn't stop. He couldn't stop until he found her.
He ducked behind a wrecked car, his heart pounding in his chest as another thunderous roar ripped through the air, making the ground tremble beneath him. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to block out the chaos.
Suddenly, a strange sensation tugged at him, like something pulling him from the inside out. Y/n opened his eyes, and in an instant, the street vanished. He wasn't standing on solid ground anymore.
He was hovering.
Above the city. Above the destruction.
For a split second, he felt like he was watching it all from far away. But then, before he could even process it, his body smashed into something—hard. A building. He felt the crushing impact, the searing pain. His mind screamed, and just as quickly, he was back on the ground, doubled over, gasping for air.
"What... was that?" He stumbled, clutching his chest, the pain still rippling through him. His surroundings blurred as he forced himself to move, weaving through the wreckage. He needed to find them, get to safety—anything but this. "DAD!"
Another roar split the air, followed by an enormous crash that sent him tumbling to the ground. The sensation hit him again, pulling him out of his body, high above the carnage below. His vision swam, and in the blink of an eye, he was colliding with a skyscraper—his body slamming into steel and glass, the force sending him reeling.
He gasped, and everything snapped back into place. He was on the ground, but his body burned with the same pain. Every nerve was on fire as if he had actually hit the building. His hands trembled. He didn't understand—how could any of this be real?
Mom, Dad... where are you?
Y/n's world tilted, disorienting him again as more crashes rocked the city. His legs wobbled as he tried to stand. The pain throbbed in his chest, coursing through his limbs, but he had to keep going. He wasn't sure how much longer he could take this. Every time the city shattered, every time those titanic roars reverberated through the streets, the pull came again.
He wasn't just running through San Francisco.
Something else was there, something massive.
Y/n shot up in bed, sweat pouring down his forehead. He gulped down air in massive breaths, his lungs screaming for him to slow down, his muscles trembling with tension. His head throbbed with pain as his eyes adjusted to the dim light in his room. Morning sunlight crept through the edges of his shades, casting faint streaks across the floor.
A faint voice came from down the hall, but Y/n barely registered it. He threw off his blanket, stumbling slightly as he grabbed his nightstand for support. His muscles still twitched with leftover adrenaline. He took a few deep breaths, then reached for the bottle of pills on the counter. Two tablets tumbled into his hand then he shoved the bottle into the drawer before making his way to the bathroom.
Y/n stared at his reflection in the mirror. His e/c eyes were pale and empty, the weight of exhaustion clear in his expression. He threw the pills into his mouth and bent over to drink from the tap. Straightening again, he studied the massive scar that stretched across his chest, a jagged reminder of what happened five years ago.
