THE fluorescent lights in the hospital hallway flickered faintly, casting a cool, sterile glow over the bustling scene. The rhythmic beeping of monitors blended with the low hum of conversations, the shuffle of doctors' coats, and the hurried footsteps of nurses as they moved between patients. Prim stood just outside a patient's room, leaning slightly against the doorframe. She held a chart in one hand, her fingers drumming nervously against the clipboard as she skimmed through the notes, though her thoughts were elsewhere.

The familiar chaos of the hospital should have been comforting by now, but ever since her powers had surfaced—visions, unexplainable flashes of the dead—she'd been on edge. Every time she stepped through those hospital doors, anxiety swirled inside her like a storm cloud, threatening to unleash at any moment. What if I see something again? The thought made her stomach twist, and she swallowed hard, trying to push it down. She couldn't let her powers interfere with her work. Not today.

Lost in thought, she barely noticed the familiar presence approaching until she heard a voice, low and warm, that sent a jolt through her.

"Prim?"

Her heart jumped, and she spun around so quickly she nearly dropped the clipboard. Standing just a few feet away was Andrew Trudeau, her high school crush, looking every bit as charming as he had all those years ago—only now, there was a maturity to him, a quiet confidence that made him even more handsome. He wore a casual jacket over his jeans, his hair slightly tousled as though he'd been running his hands through it. And that smile, the one that had always made her heart flutter in high school, was just as boyish, just as disarming.

"Andrew?" Prim blinked, her voice caught between surprise and disbelief. A flurry of emotions surged through her—nerves, excitement, and a small flicker of the crush she'd long since buried. "Wow, I didn't expect to see you here. What are you doing at the hospital?"

Andrew's grin widened as he took a step closer, clearly pleased to see her. "I'm here on a case," he explained casually, "Just checking on a few officers. I didn't think I'd run into you, though. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
