I wake in the comfort of Felix's tent, back at the Elder camp - I think. When my surroundings come into focus, I can see two more beds directly opposite mine. Skylark is sitting up in one of them, massaging her head where I must have dropped her onto the ground. The other is unoccupied, although I suspect it might be Felix's. I can see a blurred face above, but cannot move my neck to see who it is. I fling off the covers and attempt to get out of bed, instead I feel strong, firm hands push me back down again.

"She's awake, let her try." says Skylark, but instead Felix moves towards the other bed and murmurs, "Rest now, both of you," before dropping off himself. Peacefully aware that I am no longer in the Elder's camp, I drop back into an uneasy sleep.

"Why must she though?" says Felix. I can sense him running towards me, grabbing me. I can feel him rip my shoulders from their sockets; I understand, he doesn't believe in me; Skylark hisses, "You can't run or hide from him Jamie. You must give in." Both of them pick up swords from the corner of the tent and run towards me......

I wake in pitch black and sweating all over. I can tell Felix has been sitting next to me as he is snoring in a chair beside me. I must have been sleep talking, if that is a thing. I shake him by the shoulders but when he doesn't wake up, I resolve to checking my contact watch for the time: 05:30. I stretch and move my head, testing against the fall I had last night. It seemed alright; I could move it from side to side and up and down. Felix jerks in his sleep so I shake him again and this time he comes to. "Can I try the move again please Felix?"

"We must wait until Skylarks awakens," he says sleepily, but there is no need to wait as she has obviously already been awake for a while and Skylark nods her consent to try again. We walk into the forest and begin. This time, I grasp Skylark's right arm and, using my free hand to hook her legs, hurl her over my head and into Felix's arms. Skylark, for her part, looks amazed, surprised and slightly frightened. Having completed my first move, we move on to learning about the overarm and underarm hook, backward body flip and several karate kicks. By the time we have finished, I would say I am pretty good at self-defence but Skylark is insane. She nearly beat the life out of me when we tried the karate kicks.

Felix now thinks we are ready to fight proper enemies. Basically, he means the 'Now you can fight me' kinda thing. I nod my head slowly, feeling my gut instinct to run away kick in. Skylark, however, looks perfectly relaxed. Since our training together began, we have become better friends. She helping me and me helping her. Skylark moves instinctively towards Felix, but he sidesteps..... straight into my kicking leg. He gets the full force in the backside and starts jumping around like a distressed bunny rabbit.

Me and Skylark take the opportunity to high-five each other, until Felix appears behind her and uses the full-body flip we had been practising. I, like a true partner would, try to catch Skylark as she is hurled backwards and place her gently on the ground. Then, I sneak up behind Felix and wrap his upper arm in the overarm hook. We both go crashing to the ground and Felix raises his hand in surrender.
