ACT ONE SCENE TWO

Hi lovers 💕Welcome 🤗 back to The Soothsayer a play by isah Usman shafiu, hope you will continue to enjoy it throughout the session.
       
           ACT ONE SCENE TWO
                                                                                           Chroma enter Amanda’s room, Amanda was busy reading her book as usual, her mother come in and sit beside her on the bed.
Chroma: {cheerful} How are you? You didn’t go to bed, isn’t time yet.
Amanda: Yes, it is time, I am preparing for bed, I am looking for my blanket..
  {stand up and began to search for her blanket}
Chroma: {also stand up and follow her, she placed her hand on Amanda’s shoulder} My daughter, I want to discuss with you but I see you are preparing for bed, let it be tomorrow.
Amanda: {stop what she is doing and focus to her mother utterances}
Amanda: Ok mom what’s the matter?
Chroma: {quickly} No just go to bed let it be tomorrow morning.
Amanda: Ok mom bye. {wave their hands}
{lie on her bed placed her blanket before her, also her mother off the light and leave for her room}
   
    {it was in the morning Amanda wake up while Chroma is in the kitchen and Joseph her father is in the parlour reading newspaper, she visits her mother in the kitchen and her father in the parlour}
Amanda: {admiringly} Good morning mama.
Chroma: {cheerful} Good morning, how are you today?
Amanda: {replied} Fine thank you.
Chroma: Thank god may god bless your soul.
Amanda: {walk out of the kitchen silently headed to the parlour to meet her father, where he is sitting cross legged reading newspaper. Amanda comes interjected}
Amanda: {admiringly} Good morning papa.
Joseph: Good morning, how are you today?
Amanda: Fine papa.
Joseph: May your soul continue to rest in Peace.
Amanda: Thank your papa.
{stand up gladly and leave for kitchen to help her mother with some chores} {after Amanda is done with her activities she returns back to her room}
Chroma: {Amanda’s room door opened} Amanda come out, the breakfast is ready.
Amanda: {joyfully} Ok mom I am coming.
Chroma: {turn back and headed to the dinning} Is better to come early.
      {The dinning was set Amanda, her mother, and her father sited quietly}
Joseph: {cut in with clearing his throat} Emm Amanda, what about your suitor anything.
            {A moment silent}
Chroma: We are hearing you, you kept silent what did he said or he cannot yet pay for your bride price, or does he want us to keep seeing you like this without marriage for the purpose of waiting for someone that cannot p for your bride price.
Amanda: {lowering her eyes pensive} No mama.
Chroma: {pause} Then what, this would not keep up woo.
Amanda: {reluctantly} Mama I am sorry, when he come to night I will ask him of it.
Joseph: {grumbling} Hmm let’s see, but this man cannot pay your bride price, he is just wasting you your time.
Amanda: {why are my parent behaving like this what did they mean “said to herself”}
{stand up tactfully and retreat back to her room quietly.}
Alie: {phone rings}
Alie: {amused} Hello the queen of my heart.
Amanda: {grinning} How are you fairing the king of my heart?
Alie: How are papa and mama? Hope they are in utmost health.
Amanda: {replied} Yes, they are all fine.
Alie: Thank god may their gentle soul continues to rest in Peace.
Amanda: Amen.
Amanda: {inaudible} Emm, Alie what about my bride price, you still not get the money to settle for the price, my parents are getting eager they are always fading up.
Alie: {breath heavenly} Amanda I know you know how I am developing all of my best to gather those moneys.
Amanda: {interject reluctantly} Yes.
Alie: {continues hopelessly} And I am still using my best with all the ability but yet I cann………
Amanda: {cut in calmly} You can what?
Alie: {boast in tear} But I cann…., cannot yet earn half amount of the price.
              {A quiet moment}
Alie: {continued} But in the next one month I will make sure I have pay even if it is some part of the bride price to overshadow your parent’s eager.
Amanda: {hysterically} Alie, I really love you, I cannot live without you.
Alie: {grimaces} I also for sure loves and care of you, I cannot live without you, I really loves you wholeheartedly.
Amanda: Please try to have some part of the price.
Alie: Ok by god’s grace.
Amanda: {cut off the phone} Bye.
        {Amanda continues to be in her room, confusing of their chart with Alie. Later on she continues to read her books.}
                                   LIGHT FADE OUT.

I am really apologizing you for making it too short I will make it settled by God grace.
