"You seriously don't know the word 'rot', do you?" Mateo said sarcastically, surprising from behind the two pirates who had been following him for more than half an hour.

"You really need a bell!" Harry complained, pointing the hook at him.

"It wouldn't help me much in the element of surprise to corner in a closed alley the idiots who have been after me like bloody ticks."

"He's right, Harry! If I used bells, we wouldn't have been scared..." Gil immediately shut up at his friend's gaze.

Harry looked at him again and smiled smugly as he approached.

"Well, hello, my dear Stallion. Long time no see. We haven't seen much of you around Goblin Wharf these days and we were already starting to miss your presence," he said flirtatiously.

Mateo just rolled his eyes. He adjusted the strap across his chest to accommodate the bag on his back. He looked over his shoulder to see the cloudy night sky.

I only have one hour left...

"Well, you better tell me the usual proposal so I can quickly reject it and send you back with your tail between your legs to your owner" he said indifferently looking back at the sky for a few seconds before setting his sights on the two pirates.

"Awww, not even a hello? I thought we were friends" He mocked placing a hand on his wounded heart.

"I'll be quick and clear, the answer is no and get out before I turn you into fish food and you're Ursula's next dish" he said frowning.

"Come on, you can't keep rejecting us forever! And our captain won't be so generous for so long!" Harry said.  He approached the boy and tried to put his shoulders around him, but when he saw the difference in height, he smiled mischievously and wrapped his hook around his waist.

"At least think about it. If you say yes and join us, we could be the owners of the island. We would be the most feared and respected people in the place! With your strength, our crew and resources, we would be unstoppable" said Harry in one more attempt to convince him.

Mateo was seriously thinking about sticking that hook in his eyes. Since several months after Mal and the boys had left the island to live in Auradon, he had been harassed countless times by Uma's henchmen with the offer to join her crew. Even before the whole thing with the crown prince trying to redeem the children of the villains happened, he had received several times from Uma the invitation to be part of her crew. But now that he was completely alone, they were becoming more and more insistent and more irritating.

"Tempting, but I'll pass. I'm not interested in participating in your little gang war. I've got better things to do than waste time in a childish fight." He pushed the pirate's face away from him and turned to walk away from the alley.

"You can't keep isolating yourself! You won't survive this long being alone! Understand that you've been abandoned! Mal, Evie, Jay, and that scaredy-cat Carlos aren't coming back! Those traitorous rats aren't coming back! They don't deserve your loyalty! They're just some.." he stopped when a hand grabbed him by the neck and slammed him into the wall.

"Harry!" Gil shouted running to push Mateo away, but he pushed him away with his free hand and inhuman strength that sent him away, crashing and rolling on the ground.

At that moment Harry knew he had screwed up, he had screwed up big time. Now he regretted not listening to Uma's warnings about not making him angry. Fear, terror and, in a way, fascination, began to invade his entire body as he was suspended in the air and pressed against the wall while the strong grip on his neck began to cut off his breathing and he kept his gaze fixed on the golden eyes that began to shine like rings of fire.
