2. Project
Natasha Dovecote
3rd person"𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐇𝐄 asked if "really want to ruin" my life!" Emerson Jensen ranted to her best friend about her judgemental aunt, mocking her. "Like excuse you?" she groaned as she leaned against the locker next to Natasha Dovecote's.
"Wow," Natasha Dovecote agreed, "seriously? She needs to get a life."
"You can say that again."
"Hey," Emerson glanced at her watch, "i've got to head to detention, gotta dash," she waved.
Natasha nodded as she packed her bag, "yeah, bye."
"Hey, lemme know how that project goes," Natasha's best friend winked at her.
Natasha rolled her eyes, ignoring what her best friend was implying, "yeah, yeah. Let me know how detention goes."
"Will do," Emerson made and pointed fingers guns at Natasha as she walked backwards and then disappeared into a hallway.
"Hey," another sudden presence caught Natasha off guard.
She turned, only to see her project partner.
"Hey," she smiled at the brunette.
"So, wanna get started on that project?" Kyla Zaylie suggested.
Natasha shrugged at she zipped up her bag, "we don't have to start immediately."
"An early start wouldn't hurt, Ash."
One look from Kyla, and Natasha immediately agreed.
"Sure," she slammed her locker shut as Kyla grabbed her hand.
"Hey, your house or mine?" Kyla asked as the pair walked out.
Natasha shrugged with a loopy smile, "i don't mind, Ky."
She swung their hands slightly, both forgetting their hands were still connected.
"Wanna come to mine?" Kyla asked.
"Sure!"
—————————————
"Mum? Dad?" Kyla called as the pair stepped into her home.
"In here, Kyla!" a voice came from the kitchen, presumably her mom.
Natasha let her eyes wander as they ventured to the kitchen, looking at the contents of the cozy home.
"Hi, mom!" Kyla greeted, "this is Natasha. We're doing a school project."
Kyla's mom greeted Natasha with a warm smile, "hi, sweetie! You can call me Paige!"
"Hi, Paige!"
Paige unexpectedly pulled Natasha into a hug, but Natasha didn't mind, not in the slightest.
"How are you? Kyla's not bothering you too much, is she now?" Paige asked as they pulled back, holding onto Natasha's shoulders.
Natasha laughed, "no, not too much."
"Mom!" Kyla groaned.
Natasha watched the dynamic with a smile.
She wished for this.
"Well, you let me know if she does, yeah?" Paige winked.
"For sure!"
"Come on," Kyla grabbed Natasha's hand again, annoyed, "she's here for me, not you."
Kyla dragged Natasha to her room, noticing the door had "Kyla" stamped smack dab on the front.
Natasha looked around the older's room as she entered.
This was her second time in the room. Her first was at a party, when they had hung out in there for a bit.
There was posters littered around the wall, a lesbian flag hung proudly on the ceiling, the occasional clothing piece, a vanity with makeup and skincare, a desk and her bed, which was, surprisingly, made.
Natasha quite liked it. It was rather different to hers.
"Sorry," Kyla apologised, "i would've cleaned up-"
"Oh, don't worry about it," Natasha waved her hand dismissively as she plopped down on the bed. "So, wanna get started?"
"We just got here, Ash! We don't have to start immediately," Kyla protested.
"I thought "it wouldn't hurt to get an early start", huh," Natasha mocked.
Kyla rolled her eyes, "yeah, ok, whatever."
"Come on," Natasha pulled out her laptop.
The pair proceeded blabbed on about the project and the boring stuff that came along with it.
—————————————
WITH A SIgh, Kyla Zaylie fell back on her bed, "i don't wanna do this anymore."
"Oh, so you did wanna do this at some point?" Natasha Dovecote asked sarcastically, throwing her a glance.
Kyla stared up at her lesbian flag and reached her hand up and played with Natasha's hair, twirling it around her finger, "yeah, totally, when i heard i'd be working with you."
"Yeah?" Natasha asked absentmindedly, unaware of Kyla's staring, unwavering gaze.
"Yeah," Kyla agreed.
There was a short silence before Kyla broke it, "Ash, are you even listening to me?"
"Mhm, yup, uhuh, one hundo," Natasha responded absentmindedly.
Kyla let out another loud sigh, but Natasha remained focused.
The former sat up and stared at Natasha as she, still, remained unwavering.
"Hello," Kyla waved her hand in her face.
Natasha pushed Kyla's hand down and gave her a look and a "hi," before she started typing again.
Kyla gave another sigh.
Natasha copied Kyla, mocking her movements, before finally putting the computer to the side, "is this why you always panic the night before stuff is due?"
"Maybe..."
Natasha leaned back on her arm, "well then, why don't we finish it first and then take all the breaks we need, huh?"
"What? You tryna get rid of me?" Kyla teased.
Natasha rolled her eyes, "totally."
