Luckily, I've had the privilege to interview LordShenra about his book, Fairy Tail: Golden Shadows.
Junie: Thank you for agreeing to do an interview on your book, Fairy Tail: Golden Shadows. What inspired you to write this story?
Shenra: I've watched Fairy Tail from when I was in middle school as that inspired me to actually start writing. From there I liked the fantasy aspect and the magic. Then came the characters on what I think were well done. Years went by as I finally told myself, I need to make my own version of Fairy Tail after the events of the first anime when it ended creating an alternate universe where the 100 years quest doesn't happen and a character of my own comes in.
Junie: I love that you could go back to the anime that inspired you to write, creating a fanfic for it. You said this story features a characters of your own. Would you like telling us a bit about them?
Shenra: Three new characters, The first one introduced is Arvalis Zendai. His magic is called Lost Blade Requip magic. He could Requip weapons of the Lost Blade series that have been made throughout his family line...but things take a turn for his magic.
It is mainly about Arvalis, but I've decided to make a small team where the characters are slowly introduced. Arvalis Zendai first, Then Belle Phantasia and lastly Ewan McGregor. I know he's not introduced just yet currently, but he will.
Junie: Sounds like you've created quite a few unique characters. By my understandings, these OCs interact with the original cast of Fairytail--or at least, characters from the anime--which would you say is harder for you to write: your original characters or the canon ones and why?
Shenra: I would say writing the canon characters because I have to remember everyone's personality, their magic and such, my O.C's are easier to write because I can make their personality the same. Canon characters persona has to be spot on.
Junie: I can see where canon characters would definitely be harder than OCs. What has been your favorite thing about writing Fairy Tail: Golden Shadows?
Shenra: Some of it is nostalgia as when I write the fighting, in my head I have the OST battle music playing in the my head or when it's in a somber moment, it hits me just like that.
Junie: There is something very nostalgic when writing a fanfic about an anime we've been so invested in for years. When asked about how you'd describe the story, you stated it was a "fantasy, action-packed story". Would you mind giving the readers more of a sneak peak of what you mean by this and how they can look forward to a story that is filled with fantasy and action?
Shenra: In my chapter 7 "Assault of Axe & Ice" This chapter is about meeting two of the 3 Elites of Frozaisa Guardsman. In this, everyone in the Guild were out and about, but Belle and Arvalis see each other at the Guild as Mira was there too. But shortly after conversing, they were rudely interrupted by an Elite Guardsman, Hrodulf Strevalheim. There was a battle there, as afterwards at Lamia Scale in Margaret Town, canon characters of Natsu and a few others paid a visit to the guild. But unbeknownst they would be interrupted by another Elite Guardsman.
Junie: Sounds quite eventful! Is there anything else you'd like readers to know about Fairy Tail: Golden Shadows?
Shenra: Just to be ready for a brand new adventure with the trio across Fiore in new and old places.
