Claire sat at Mark's kitchen table the following morning, her laptop open in front of her, her mind consumed with thoughts of the mysterious man who had been harassing her. Mark had left for work early, urging her to rest, but Claire couldn't sleep. The questions swirling in her mind refused to give her any peace.

Who was this man? Why had he used Daniel Grey's name? And how was it possible that someone who had died in 1998 could be sending her text messages in the present?

She needed answers. With a determination she hadn't felt in days, Claire began her own investigation.

She typed "Daniel Grey 1998 car accident" into the search bar, scrolling through various articles about the crash. The accident had been tragic—Daniel, the heir to the Grey family fortune, had been driving along a coastal road late at night when his car swerved off a cliff. The impact had been fatal, and it was ruled an accident caused by reckless driving and poor weather conditions.

But as Claire dug deeper, something didn't sit right. The details surrounding Daniel's death seemed too convenient, too... unresolved. There were whispers in old forums and archived articles about a mysterious passenger that night, someone who had vanished from the wreckage, never identified.

Claire's fingers paused over the keys as she re-read the same name mentioned in a couple of obscure sources: Jonah Grey—the same distant relative of Elias Grey she had met just days before.

She couldn't shake the connection. Why would Jonah's name surface in discussions about Daniel's accident? She remembered Jonah being dismissive of his own family history, almost avoiding it when she'd asked. It was too much of a coincidence to ignore. Could Jonah have known more about Daniel's life—or even his death—than he let on?

As Claire searched for more information, her phone buzzed again on the table, causing her heart to leap. She snatched it up, anxiety gripping her.

"Still digging, I see. You're a curious one, Claire Blake."

Claire's blood ran cold. The message had come from the same unknown number as before. Her heart hammered as she typed a response, her hands trembling.

"Who are you? Why are you doing this? And how do you know about Daniel?"

She pressed send and held her breath, staring at the screen, waiting for a reply. A few agonizing minutes passed before her phone buzzed again.

"I know more than you think, Claire. But you should stop while you still can. Dig too deep, and you won't like what you find."

Claire clenched her jaw, her fear quickly turning to frustration. She was tired of the games, tired of being terrorized by a faceless figure who seemed to know far too much about her life.

But before she could type another reply, another message appeared on the screen.

"Daniel wasn't alone that night. Ask Jonah what he knows about that."

Her heart dropped. The implication in the message was clear—Jonah knew more about Daniel's death than he had let on. There was something else going on, something connected to the Grey family's tangled history.

Her mind raced as she thought back to her brief encounter with Jonah. He had seemed friendly, but distant. Could he really be hiding something? And what was his connection to Daniel and the mysterious figure taunting her?

Claire grabbed her phone, intending to call Officer Mirchell, but then hesitated. She wasn't sure how much the police could help her in solving the deeper mystery at play. This felt like something only she could uncover.

Taking a deep breath, she made a decision. She was going to visit Jonah Grey again—this time, armed with more questions. There was no way she could stop now. The truth was buried somewhere in the Grey family's past, and she was determined to find it.
