blue or pink?

Hey just so everyone knows - I really don't want this chapter to be offensive to anyone in the trans or non-binary community. I'm not someone who believes there are only two genders and that's not what I want this story to be about. It's just a cute topic and I hope you guys like it too! Thanks!

Taylors' POV

Today was the day.

I woke up with a mixture of excitement and nerves. The gender reveal. It felt surreal to think that by the end of today, we would know if we were having a little boy or girl. I lay there for a moment, taking it all in. My hand instinctively moved to my belly, a small smile tugging at my lips. Our baby.

"Morning, mama," came Travis' groggy voice beside me. He rolled over, his arm wrapping around me, pulling me closer.

"Morning," I murmured with a smile, leaning into his warmth. "Ready for the big day?"

He laughed softly, pressing a kiss to my shoulder. "I've been ready since we found out you were pregnant."

We rolled out of bed and went to our closets to get dressed. We had asked all the guests to wear pink or blue in correspondence with their guesses for the baby's gender.

When I turned back to look at Travis, my heart swelled at the sight of his smile. He was wearing a light pink T-shirt, a cheeky grin plastered on his face. "Pink?" I raised an eyebrow, playfully tugging at his shirt.

"I'm team girl, obviously," he said with a wink. "What's up with you wearing blue, though? Are you team boy?"

I glanced down at my blue dress, the fabric flowing over my medium baby bump. "I just like keeping you on your toes," I teased.

He chuckled, sitting up and stretching. "It's working." He paused, looking at me more seriously now. "I just... I can't believe we're doing this today. Finding out if we're having a son or daughter. It's crazy."

I nodded, feeling a wave of emotion rise in my chest. "I know. It's... huge."

Travis pulled me into a tight hug from behind, his hand resting on my belly as his chin claimed my head. "Whatever happens, boy or girl, we're going to be amazing parents."

I smiled, feeling the reassuring weight of his words. We had talked about this moment for weeks now, imagining what it would feel like to know. Obviously, all we really wanted was a happy and healthy baby, but we both knew we couldn't wait to start coming up with names. And today, we'd finally get to really start planning.

---

The morning flew by in a whirlwind of preparations. We had our closest friends and family coming over for the reveal, and the house was buzzing with energy. Jason and Kylie were the first to arrive with their girls. Jason and Ky were matching in their hot pink sweatset while Ellie and Wy chose blue, likely to spite their parents. Bennett, not having much say in the matter, was in her own pink onesie.

"I'm calling it now, it's a girl," Jason announced, hoisting Wyatt onto his hip as she giggled. "I mean, look at my kids. There's no way Kelce men can have girls."

Kylie, standing next to him with a knowing smile, shook her head and with a laugh teased Jason. "And how would Ed feel about that? But anyways I'm also team girl," she said confidently, pulling Elliotte and Bennett closer. "Taylor, you've got that glow. It has to be a girl."

I laughed, hugging them both. "I guess we'll see soon enough!"

As more friends and family arrived, the house filled with laughter, pink and blue outfits, and guesses being thrown around. Blake and Ryan came in soon after, with Blake in stunning pink jeans and Ryan, naturally, in blue ones of his own. "You know, I've always been right about these things," Ryan winked at me. "It's definitely a boy."

Blake playfully swatted his arm. "Don't listen to him, Taylor. It's a girl. I can feel it."

The energy was electric. Seeing all the people we loved gathered in our home, all here to celebrate this moment with us, made my heart swell. Travis was mingling, making jokes, and keeping the mood light, but every now and then, I'd catch him glancing my way, his eyes soft, full of love.

---

As the sun started to set, casting a warm glow over the backyard, it was finally time for the reveal. My heart was racing as everyone gathered around, forming a semicircle. Travis stood beside me, his arm around my waist as his fingers lightly traced my bump, his smile wide but his eyes betraying his nervous excitement.

"Okay, everyone!" Kylie called out, holding up her phone to record. "This is it!"

I took a deep breath, exchanging a glance with Travis. This was it. In just a few seconds, we'd know.

We had chosen to do a confetti reveal—pink for a girl, blue for a boy. The large cannons were positioned in front of us, and everyone was counting down, their voices overlapping with excitement.

"Three... two... one!"

The cannons exploded with a burst of color, and for a moment, I couldn't process it. My eyes widened as pink confetti filled the air, swirling around us like a beautiful storm. A girl.

I turned to Travis, who was grinning from ear to ear, his eyes shining with emotion. "A girl," he whispered, his voice thick with disbelief and happiness.

I laughed, tears springing to my eyes. "We're having a girl."

Travis pulled me into his arms, spinning me around as the confetti continued to fall. "We're having a little girl," he said again, as if he couldn't believe it. "I'm going to be a girl dad."

I felt a wave of emotion crash over me, my heart so full it hurt. "You're going to be the best girl dad."

He kissed me then, soft and tender, as the cheers of our friends and family echoed around us. I could hear Jason hooting in the background, shouting, "Told you it was a girl!" while Blake and Kylie high-fived each other, victorious in their guess.

---

After the reveal, we all sat around the backyard, eating and laughing, the excitement still buzzing in the air. I couldn't stop smiling. Every time I looked at Travis, I saw that same look of awe in his eyes, like he couldn't believe we were having a daughter.

As the evening wound down and our guests started to leave, Travis and I found ourselves alone, sitting on the porch swing, the remnants of pink confetti still scattered around us. He had his arm around me, and I rested my head on his shoulder, feeling content and at peace.

"Can you believe it?" I asked softly, breaking the comfortable silence.

He sighed, pulling me closer. "Not really. But I couldn't be happier."

"I was so nervous," I admitted, laughing a little at myself. "I mean, not that it mattered whether it was a boy or girl, but I just... I don't know. I wanted today to be perfect."

He kissed the top of my head. "It was perfect, Tay. You're perfect."

I smiled, closing my eyes as I let his words wash over me. "You're going to be an amazing dad, you know that? You were destined to have girls."

"I'm going to try," he said quietly, his voice thick with emotion. "But this little girl's going to have the best damn mom this world has ever seen."

Tears pricked at my eyes again, and I didn't try to stop them this time. "I love you so much."

He looked down at me, his eyes soft and full of love. "I love you more."

We stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other, as the excitement of the day began to fade into a soft, quiet happiness. We were having a daughter. And as we sat there, the stars beginning to twinkle above us, I knew that no matter what, we had everything we needed right here.
