After a difficult qualifying session, I managed to secure pole position for tomorrow's race. As soon as I step into the garage, I barely have time to catch my breath before Viv launches herself at me, wrapping her arms tightly around my neck and her legs around my waist. The joy radiating off her is contagious, and I can't help but grin.
"Well done, Lans!" she beams, hanging on to me as if she never wants to let go.
I chuckle, holding her up as she clings to me, her excitement almost making me forget how exhausted I feel. "Thanks, Viv," I say, my voice slightly muffled as I bury my face in her shoulder, breathing her in. There's something about the way she holds me, the way she looks at me, that makes everything else fade away.
She pulls back slightly, still smiling, her eyes sparkling with pride. "I knew you'd do it," she says, her hands still resting on my shoulders. "You always do."
"Only because I had my good luck charm watching me," I tease, giving her a playful squeeze.
She rolls her eyes, but the smile never leaves her face. "I don't think I had much to do with it."
"Are you kidding? You're the reason I'm this good," I say with a grin, half-joking, half-serious. Viv's always been my biggest supporter, and even on the tough days, having her around makes it all worth it.
She laughs, hopping down from my waist but keeping her arms loosely around me. "Well, then I guess you owe me dinner or something," she teases.
I tilt my head, pretending to think. "Hmm, I do like the sound of that. How about we celebrate properly tonight? My treat."
Her eyes light up, and I can tell she's excited by the idea. "You're on. But first—" she stops, looking up at me with a smirk, "—I have a little surprize for you."
"Oh really?" I ask, raising an eyebrow with a smirk.
"Mhm, in my hotel room tonight," she replies, her grin widening.
"Can I have a clue?" I tease, hoping she'll let something slip.
"What? No! It's a surprise, and you'll just have to wait for tonight," she says, playfully swatting at my arm before flashing me a mischievous smile.
I let out a dramatic sigh. "Fine, but you know how impatient I am."
She laughs, that soft, musical sound that makes my chest tighten. "Well, you'll just have to survive until then." Her tone is light, but there's something in her eyes—a hint of anticipation that makes me even more curious.
Viv steps closer and wraps her arms around my waist, hugging me tightly. I squeeze her back, holding her for just a moment longer than usual, already imagining what she might have planned.
"Well, I better go get that surprise ready," she says, pulling away slightly, her fingers trailing down my arm as she lets go.
"Guess I'll just be counting down the hours then," I reply with a grin, trying to mask the excitement building inside me.
"See you later, Lans." She gives me one last playful glance over her shoulder before walking off, her hips swaying slightly as she heads out of the garage.
I stand there for a moment, watching her disappear, my mind already racing. Whatever she has planned for tonight is bound to be... interesting.
"Focus, Lando," I mutter to myself, shaking my head with a chuckle before turning back to the team. But no matter how hard I try, my thoughts keep drifting to Viv and whatever she has in store for me later.
