It was a quiet Saturday night, and the rain fell down the whole day. She knew that she wouldn't be busy on this kind of night because people would not be leaving their houses to spend their time at the bar. Since it was a bit cold outside and the atmosphere was a bit gloomy, she already knew she could expect less guests tonight. She loved this kind of weather in September because it always made her felt a lot of comfort and quiet.
When she arrived at bar, she found only two tables were taken and the rest of the tables were free. The bar manager greeted her and said tonight would be not a night for them since the weather was on the other side of their world. She already learned that they would not receive more than 4 tables for tonight.
She poured herself a glass of red wine and took the seat beside the window just to look at the rain drops by playing the slow jazz songs. She liked to sit alone on that kind of rainy nights. The staffs at her bar already understood that she would not like to be disturbed when she sat on that seat with her wine glass.
She took a look at the seat where five young people seated and enjoyed each other companies. They were the only group of people who created the warm atmosphere in this bar on a cold night. They looked like they were in mid 20s. She had never seen them around in town. So, she thought they must have been from other places and came here to just hang around.
She put a smile on her face when she heard their laughers and voices full of energy. They seemed like they did not have anything to worry about. She always admired such kind of sprit in young people because that kind of spirit was not what money could buy. She wondered what her friends would do at this moment. Well, it was needless to even wonder cos they would be busy with their families and kids at this very moment.
Then her eyes roamed into the young couples who were sitting at the corner of the bar. Of cos they would choose that seat at the corner because it was private and two young love birds could communicate in subtle way which no one could hear. They looked like they were in early days of their relationship because they could not even look around except, they set their eyes on each other. She wondered if the slow jazz songs would fit with this kind of situation. One table was full of laughter and joys and another table was full of love. She wanted to create the joyful moment for everyone. As she always looked for something solace in music, she wanted to play the songs that could create the good atmosphere for everyone.
She stood up from her seat and walked into bar counter with her wine glass. The bartender was busy with cleaning the bottles. Then another waiter walked over her and asked her what she needed.
"I think we need to change the playlist cos jazz songs might be boring for the guests. You think?"
The bartender turned his head to her and raised his eyebrows just to show he agreed her idea. The waiter beside her also nodded his head and suggested they should have changed the playlist. Then bartender looked at her with his glittering eyes and said
"Can I be DJ for tonight?"
"Of cos. Why not? We didn't know your music taste yet. So, I'm gonna let you be the DJ for an hour. Sounds fair?
She was kind of excited to see her bartender's music taste. Cos he was a quiet man in his mid 20s and barely communicated with other staffs in the bar. He just started working with her two months ago, but she could tell he was very competent young man and served the guests very well. So, she agreed the idea of him being the DJ for an hour. This is one of the reasons she enjoyed owning the bar in this town. She could learn about her staffs by their music taste, and it never went wrong in her way.
