Growing up in Mystic Falls was not for the faint of heart. There were always rumors when I was younger. Stories of the boogie man. Things that could never be explained away as hard as people might try but it had become so commonplace that when there was another animal attack or gas leak nobody batted an eye. Living here my whole life I had the same group of friends since kindergarten. They always laughed at the rumors that would swirl in the small town.
We had all decided to put off our first year of college to enjoy our time together one last year before we all had to go our separate ways. A party to kick off the start of the rest of our lives seemed to be the best fit.
Candice, of course, had taken over the planning and execution of the party. Kat and I were just there to do as we were told. Paul volunteered his house and was in charge of alcohol and making sure that people were going to be there.
As we were decorating my phone rang, "Hello?"
Paul spoke up, "Hey I have a question, and I hope you are in a giving mood." He joked.
I rolled my eyes, "What now? Another animal attack? What did they blow up this time?" I joked back.
He was quiet for a second and then continued, "Well I have a friend that just moved here, and I want to invite him tonight."
I laughed, "Well what's the problem I mean after all its your house."
He hesitated again, "Well...he is a real handful. I mean he is my best friend in the world, but he always seems to find trouble to get into, so I guess I just wanted to kind of warn you?"
I turned to the girls, "Paul wants to invite his best friend. Any objections?" There were none so we said our goodbyes and hung up.
Paul showed up a couple of hours later with the most beautiful stranger I had ever seen. He stood about five foot ten inches tall and had a muscular build with shaggy black hair and the most stunning grey eyes I had ever seen.
"Candice, Kat, (yn) I would like you to meet Ian. He and I have been like brothers since we were born, and he finally decided to move out here to be closer to me." Paul stated.
Ian kissed the back of Candice and Kat's hands and when he took mine I got a weird feeling but was so lost in his eyes it didn't register. He lingered when he kissed my hand and didn't let it go. "Paul you didn't tell me how beautiful the women were here. I would have come long ago." He said looking in my eyes.
Paul broke his grasp, "Well I was trying to keep them all for myself." He joked.
The doorbell rang and people were starting to trickle in. I was mingling and Ian was stuck to my side like someone had handcuffed him to me.
I was introducing him to everyone I knew, and Candice was trying to get his attention. I laughed, "I think you are wanted over there." And he just smiled and never left my side.
After a couple of hours Ian disappeared and turned up having a very hushed and from the looks of it heated conversation with Paul.
I wonder what that's all about? None of my business really I don't guess. Kat interrupted my thoughts, "That is one sexy hunk of meat over there." And she nudged me.
I just laughed, "We are not going there." And I looked over at Candice, "I think someone else has her eyes on him." And we both laughed.
I was walking around just talking to people and ran across two people I had never seen before. In a small town everybody knows everybody but these two seemed to be out of place. As I made my way over to them I couldn't help but notice how sexy the shorter one was. He stood six feet one with a very fit build, dark brown hair and stubble like he hadn't shaved in a couple of days. The other one was a little taller standing six feet four inches and had a lean build with shaggy dark brown hair and was working on a full beard. I needed to find out who they were and where they came from. Especially the shorter one I thought to myself as I headed their direction.
