It had been a long time since we last saw Kirov, about 20 years in fact and in those 20 years the world had been united against one common enemy, the Siren. This Alien Species had come out of nowhere during the 2000 RIMPAC Exercises. During which they managed to sink 10 of the 50 participating ships and heavily damage the rest of them. After 5 years of fighting the Siren to limited success, someone finally had the bright idea of trying to reverse engineer the Siren's technology and apply it to Human Technology.
At first, this entailed the use of Rail Guns, Laser Weapons, and advanced sensors.....they did not work. Then, they tried copying the Siren's Shields and advanced defenses......this also didn't work. Then, they finally found something that worked....and oddly enough, they found it out by complete accident.
A pair of teenage assistants of Doctor Yostar named Aoste and Anzeel had been helping dispose of some crystallized, blue cubes one day in the port of Yokosuka after said Cubes had stumped the Doctor to no end when Aoste tripped on a mooring line, the box holding the crystals broke and one of the cubes broke free, it bounced along the ground a few times before hitting the museum ship IJN Mikasa thus giving birth to the first ever Kansen.
After 5 years of refinement, many advances had been made and the world's oceans were now contested as the Siren had to deal with the Kansen and their human allies. To help expedite the process of creating more kansen, Anzeel and Aoste would travel the world and help with the activation of everything they could from museum ships to hulks of scrap iron, everything the cubes touched came to life and that is where we pick up Kirov's story.
The Kirov has been sitting in its berth, abandoned for many years now, it had been renamed from Kirov to Admiral Ushakov for Political Reasons before getting its name reverted back to Kirov. Rust fell from her portholes, her weapons had been removed, her Nuclear Fuel had been drained, and anything useful had been ripped out of her and put into her various fleetmates. As it creaked and groaned, tugging at its moorings with the waves, A group of vans pull up alongside the quay and various Russian, American, and UN Soldiers begin setting up all kinds of equipment as Aoste, Anzeel, 2 KGB Guards, and Vladimir Putin are seen getting out of a van while a media team are seen filming the whole thing.
Putin: "So, you are sure that this process will be able to bring the Kirov back to its former glory?" he asked.
Dr Aoste (Younger): "In theory, yes." he replied, holding a briefcase which had a blue glow emanating from its various openings, "But we have never tried this process on anything so new before."
Putin: "Thus all the equipment, yes?" he questioned.
Dr Anzeel (Younger): "Mhm." she nodded, "Since we haven't Kansenified a Modern Ship before, we need to gather as much data as possible."
Dr Aoste walks off to supervise the soldiers in setting up the monitoring equipment.
Putin: "And if this process fails to yield suitable results?" he asked.
Dr Anzeel: "As said in the contract, if the Kirov turns out as a runtish Kansen we will take her off your hands and assign her to Yokosuka Japan." she replied, "If there is 0 reply at all then you may do with the hull as you want while we bring another Soviet Warship to life, preferably something from the 1940's or before."
Putin: "I see. Very well." he nodded, "I believe Avrora will be more than suitable for this."
Dr Anzeel: "Oh, that cute little Cruiser? Yeah! She'll work lovely." she beamed.
