Chapter 35 - INHUMANITY: Lightning's Descendant

Everyone is getting back from their mission around the Great Walls, another night of simply looking around to see how many enemies of the outside they have to face. But after seeing them with their own eyes yesterday, why bother investigating further? Does anything change if you continue with it? Well... it's just the Great Leader's order in the end, it's not like they can do anything about it. And of course the small chaos between the existent groups of friends in this base makes its appearance when the people reunite with each other after getting everything done.

[LUK3]-C0NNER! Do you want to go with me in a small break to take a drink when you leave? Pleaseee!

[C0NNER]-And if I say "no"?

[LUK3]-Come ooooon! Just for a few minutes!! I don't want to go alone and get bored on my own! You are my buddy, so you have to come with me!

[C0NNER]-*sigh* From annoying you, he got to me now?

[KYR4]-Can't deal with it or what?

[C0NNER]-You sure are enjoying it, aren't you, Officer?

[KYR4]-Maybe. It's rare for me to have a minute without his bullshit, so why do you complain?

C0NNER looks rather surprised at LUK3's response and gets a bit jealous of KYR4. So, to save his butt too, he tries out the Officer's excuse, faking a cough or two in order to fool LUK3 so he can be left in peace as well.

[C0NNER]-*cough* *cough* You know what...? I think I'm getting sick too! *cough* I will go to my apartment to rest now!

[LUK3]-OH, HELL NAH, YOU LITTLE SHIT! YOU CAN'T FOOL ME SO EASILY! YOU CAN'T USE THIS EXCUSE SINCE YOU DIDN'T PARTICIPATE IN THE MISSION YESTERDAY! YOU ARE COMING WITH ME!

[C0NNER]-No! I'm serious! *cough* I'm getting sick, LUK3! If you want me alive, leave me to rest! *cough* *cough*

[LUK3]-WHO DO YOU TAKE ME OF, GENIUS?? QUIT FAKING IT! I KNOW YOU ARE ALRIGHT, GOD DAMMIT!!

[C0NNER]-*sigh* It was worth a try...

[KYR4]-Heheh, I'm even surprised that you actually decided to try it out, C0NNER.

[C0NNER]-I mean, if it worked for you, why shouldn't I try it too?

[LUK3]-You two are pain in the ass sometimes, I swear...

When looking around though, RY4N doesn't seem to have gone with any of the groups this time. He rather looks to still feel a bit unwell, a reason why he might want to just go and get the papers done in order to rest after. He enters the Great Leader's office where CHE5TER was waiting for him, staying alone in His seat and signing a few documents from the Council.

[RY4N]-...I'm here, Ches. I brought what you needed.

[CHE5TER]-Alright. Just put them down and I will look into them a bit later. If you have something to tell me in particular, you can say it. I listen, even if it doesn't seem like it.

[RY4N]-It's... nothing in particular. Just the usual.

[CHE5TER]-Okay then. I guess I did a right choice of making it only for five days if nothing has changed. Tomorrow will be the last mission on this subject and after that, you can go back to what you've planned before, RY4N.

[RY4N]-Mhm...

Yet it seems like something irritates the ears of the ruler, being the voice of His brother that has changed, sounding a bit down. He takes a small look and notices his weird mood, raising His head from the papers for the first time since He started working on them.

[CHE5TER]-Are you alright, Brother? You don't sound like yourself.

[RY4N]-...I'm just feeling a bit unwell ever since yesterday, that's all. I guess I got a bit sick too.

[CHE5TER]-*sigh*...You as well? You are the sixth member already that has reported to me to feel off.

[RY4N]-We are children of darkness, Brother. It's normal to get sick from it if we are not used to it...

[CHE5TER]-I know, I know... Did you go and talk with MY4 to see if she can help you?

[RY4N]-Yeah, I did... She said to get a handkerchief, dip it in some Histvorh and put it on my forehead before I go to sleep. More than that, she can't do anything about it.

[CHE5TER]-Alright. Then it's best for you to simply leave and go rest if there is nothing more. I can get the work done on my own.

[RY4N]-Mm... look who tells me to rest...

[CHE5TER]-Ha ha. Okay, but wounds can be treated! If the sickness gets worse, we don't have anything to battle it, remember?

[RY4N]-...Yeah, see you.

So, after RY4N put the papers on his brother's desk, he leaves the room and goes towards his bed to rest after another day. But CHE5TER remains a bit behind to finish His work of the day, staying alone and signing all the papers He has left. When He is done with them, He takes a small break and lights up a cigarette, turning around His chair and looking at the city's view. He waits, and waits... and waits. The gods know for what exactly.

[CHE5TER]-...It's so silent in here, don't you think? And it feels so weird. This peace...

And even if it looks like He waits for a response, it seems more to us that the ruler is talking to Himself again.

[CHE5TER]-It's... annoying.
