Min Yi froze as the eerie voice echoed through the air, sending a shiver down her spine. Without thinking, she let out a piercing scream and bolted towards the faint glow in the distance. But the fog thickened rapidly, swirling around them like a living thing, swallowing the library whole. The light, once a beacon of hope, flickered and began to fade, and soon, both the voice and her way out were lost in the dense mist.
“Fei Hong, what are you three doing here?” asked the unfamiliar voice, Fei Hong’s heart raced upon the approach of the figure but as soon as she recognised the voice, she let out a huge sigh of relief.
“Yu Ming, it’s just you,” Min Xiang said, his voice barely masking the relief. But before he could say more, the piercing scream of Min Yi echoed from the distance.
Her heart froze in fear.“Yi Yi!” Fei Hong shouted, her heart lurching, all the three sprinted toward the sound of her voice.
Not far from where they stood, Min Yi was gasping for breath, her eyes fixed on the scene before her. By the time the others arrived, they too were frozen in awe.
Before them was a door, massive and ancient, with intricate mechanisms grinding as it slowly opened, casting a path of light.
“It must have been you,” Yu Ming said, looking at Min Yi. “You triggered the mechanism while you were running.”
The door groaned open, releasing a gust of wind thick with dust, forcing them to shield their eyes. As the sound of the grinding mechanism faded, what lay beyond was revealed—a vast hall, dimly illuminated by the faint light trickling in from behind.
Fei Hong stepped forward, her curiosity piqued by the mysterious place, one she had never encountered in all her years here.
But just as she moved, a pair of trembling hands pulled her back.“Fei Fei jie,” Min Xiang’s voice quivered with fear. “Let’s not go any further. This place... it doesn’t feel right. We shouldn't be here.”
Fei Hong glanced at him, her expression unreadable. “And do you think you’ll survive wandering around in this library, covered with its mist and demonic souls lurking for their next prey?”
Her voice was quiet, yet sharp, a warning layered in determination. Min Xiang gulped down in fear.
All the three followed Fei Hong as she made her way through the dusty hall, before going any further she checked whether the path they were traveling was safe.
As they ventured further, the narrow, dust-covered path expanded into a grand hallway, its walls lined with intricate paintings and countless doors, each adorned with unique patterns.
(I was only able to get this image, I hope this represents the view you have needed)
They inspected every door in hopes of finding an exit, but none led them out—only deeper into the unknown.
