The chaos in the room slowly died down as the guests, still reeling from the shocking images and messages displayed on the screen, turned their full attention to Sophie. She stood in the center of the ballroom, her heart racing, yet outwardly calm and composed. This was her moment. The storm that had been building inside her for weeks had finally erupted, but she wasn't about to lose control now. Everything had gone exactly as she had planned.

Mark's face was ashen, and Jessica, standing next to him, was visibly seething. The whispers from their friends and family filled the air like static electricity, tension mounting by the second. Diane, their mother, sat frozen in her chair, her eyes darting between her daughters, unable to process what she had just witnessed.

Sophie raised a hand, and the murmurs gradually ceased. She had their full attention.

"I know that what you just saw must be hard to believe," she began, her voice calm but resolute. "But I want you all to know that I've spent the last few weeks gathering the truth. The truth about the people I trusted most in my life—my sister, Jessica, and my fiancé, Mark."

She looked directly at them now, her gaze hard and unflinching. Jessica's hands balled into fists at her sides, her face red with anger. Mark stood there silently, his eyes pleading for some kind of forgiveness, though he dared not speak. He was trapped between his guilt and the reality of what had just been exposed.

"They've been having an affair," Sophie continued, her voice steady as she addressed the room, "for years. All the while, they let me believe that we were planning a future together, that we were going to build a life. But it was all a lie."

The crowd gasped again, as if they hadn't fully absorbed the impact of Sophie's revelation the first time. Mark's friends shifted uncomfortably, while Jessica's few remaining supporters looked away, clearly shocked by the betrayal. Sophie had always been the quiet, dependable one, and it was almost inconceivable that her perfect, golden sister could have done something so cruel.

"Sophie, that's not true!" Jessica finally blurted, her voice cracking under the pressure. "You don't understand—this isn't what it looks like. Mark and I—we didn't mean for it to happen. It just—"

Sophie held up her hand again, cutting Jessica off mid-sentence. The cold, controlled fury in her eyes was enough to silence her sister. Jessica's words fell flat in the room, as everyone waited to see what Sophie would say next.

"Don't," Sophie said softly, her voice low but filled with venom. "Don't you dare stand there and lie to these people. They've seen the proof. They know what you've done. You didn't 'accidentally' betray me. You made a choice. Both of you did."

Mark tried to speak, stepping forward with his hand outstretched, as if to offer some kind of hollow apology. "Sophie, please... we never wanted to hurt you—"

Sophie's eyes locked onto him, her expression one of pure disgust. "Hurt me? You think this is about hurting me? You've destroyed my trust. You've destroyed my sense of who I thought I could rely on. For years you've lied to me, and now you stand there and act like this is just some mistake? No, Mark. This wasn't a mistake. It was a betrayal."

Mark's mouth opened, but no words came out. There was nothing he could say that would undo the damage. The weight of his actions seemed to be crashing down on him now, in front of everyone who mattered to him.

Jessica, unable to hold back any longer, finally snapped. "You're just jealous! You always have been, Sophie. Everything's always been about you—your perfect life, your perfect engagement. You can't stand that Mark loves me too. Well, guess what? He chose me!"

A ripple of shock passed through the crowd at Jessica's outburst. It was like she had just set fire to any remaining sympathy that might have existed. Sophie's composure never faltered.

"Chose you?" Sophie repeated, her voice dripping with disdain. "No, Jessica. You stole him. Just like you've stolen everything else in my life. From the time we were kids, you always took what you wanted. And everyone let you. Mom let you. But not this time."

Diane, still seated, flinched at the mention of her name. It was no secret that Diane had always favored Jessica, and the realization that she had allowed her daughters to reach this breaking point was clearly dawning on her. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but quickly thought better of it and remained silent, her eyes full of shame.

Sophie continued, "I don't care if Mark loves you. You deserve each other. What I care about is that the two of you, the people I trusted most in this world, lied to me for years. And you think you can just sweep it under the rug like it's nothing."

Jessica's face twisted in rage, but she was out of ammunition. Everyone in the room had seen the proof. Her denial meant nothing now.

"Go ahead, Jessica," Sophie said, her voice quiet but cutting through the air like a knife. "Tell them all why you did it. Tell them how you felt entitled to take everything from me because you always have."

Jessica stood there, trembling with fury but unable to defend herself any further. The crowd's judgmental gazes were too much, even for her to bear. The golden child, the perfect daughter, had finally been exposed as the liar she truly was.

Sophie turned to the room, addressing the guests as a whole. "This wedding is over. There won't be any celebrations. Not with these two."

The air in the room was thick with tension. No one spoke. Sophie glanced at Mark one last time, her expression cold and detached. "You and Jessica deserve each other. I'm done with both of you."

With that, Sophie turned and walked away, leaving the guests, Mark, and Jessica standing in the wreckage of their lies. The weight of her words and the finality of her actions settled over the room like a lead blanket.

As Sophie made her way toward the door, Rachel caught up with her, grabbing her arm gently. "Sophie... are you okay?"

Sophie smiled faintly, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. "I'm free, Rachel. For the first time in a long time, I'm free."

And with that, she walked out, the weight of betrayal no longer holding her down. She had taken control of her story, and now, it was time to move forward—without the people who had once tried to destroy her.
