Fearin Lee, the cold and calculating CEO of a powerful company, lived by strict rules, believing emotions only clouded judgment. His reputation for ruthless business decisions was as sharp as his tailored suits. On the other hand, Kim Kira, a free-spirited fashion designer known for her creativity and bold designs, thrived in the world of color and flair. Their worlds couldn’t have been more different, yet through the binding force of family and corporate interests, they were forced into an arranged marriage. The merger of two lives so distant promised to be anything but simple.

I was settling in the room next door to his when i heard a knock on the door, i opened it up to see the maid "yuna".

  "Anything wrong yuna"
"No madam , sir is ordered you to come to dinner"

I hesitated, thinking about what joining Fearin for dinner would mean. This was our first meal together since the marriage, and I didn’t know what to expect from a man known for his cold and sharp decisions.

“Thank you, Yuna,” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. “I’ll be down shortly.”

After she left, I took a deep breath and smoothed my dress in front of the mirror. It was bright and colorful—everything I was, in stark contrast to the coldness I sensed from Fearin.

When I entered the grand dining room, I felt the chill in the air. The long table was set perfectly, shining under the soft lights. Fearin sat at the far end, his gaze focused on something distant.

“Good evening, Kira,” he said, his voice flat. “I trust you’re settling in.”

“Good evening, Fearin,” I replied softly, my voice barely above a whisper. “Yes, thank you.”

He didn’t respond, his attention back on his meal, as if I were just another part of the room. I shifted in my seat, the silence growing heavier.

“Yuna did a good job,” I said, trying to break the tension.

“Yuna is efficient,” he said coldly, still not looking up. “Efficiency is key.”

“But life isn’t just about efficiency, Fearin,” I said, my heart racing. “There’s more to it than that.”

He finally looked at me, his expression unreadable. “Emotions can lead to mistakes.”

I flinched at the sharpness of his words. “I understand that, but—”

He cut me off, his eyes narrowing. “You need to learn your place, Kira. This is a business arrangement.”

I swallowed hard, the weight of his words sinking in. “Understood,” I said quietly, fear creeping into my voice.

Dinner went on in silence, and I realized just how far apart our worlds really were. I felt there was little chance of forming any kind of connection. The barriers between us felt as solid as stone.

As dinner continued, I picked at my food, the tension in the air suffocating. Fearin remained focused on his plate, occasionally glancing at his phone, as if waiting for something more important than our conversation.

“Is there a reason you chose this arrangement?” I asked, trying to push past the chill. “Why not look for a partner who shares your... values?”

He looked up, his gaze piercing. “Because personal connections can be a liability. This is a strategic decision, nothing more.”

I felt my heart sink. “So you don’t see this as a partnership at all?”

He set down his fork and leaned back, studying me. “Partnerships are for those who trust each other. Trust doesn’t exist in our situation.”
