The morning sun streamed through the window, casting warm light across Kira’s room. She woke up feeling refreshed, still buzzing from the conversation she had with Fearin the night before. Determined to keep the positive momentum going, she decided to invite him to breakfast.
After getting dressed, she made her way down the hallway, excitement bubbling in her chest. She knocked softly on Fearin's door, but there was no answer. She pushed the door open a crack, peeking inside.
“Fearin?” she called softly.
The room was empty, but as she stepped further in, she heard the sound of water running from the bathroom. Suddenly, the bathroom door swung open, and Fearin emerged, a towel slung low around his waist, droplets of water glistening on his skin.
Kira’s eyes widened, and she quickly turned around, her cheeks heating up in embarrassment. “Oh! I’m so sorry!” she stammered, feeling flustered.
“Good morning, darling,” he said with a playful smirk, clearly enjoying her reaction. Kira felt her heart skip a beat. “Darling?” she thought. It caught her off guard, both surprising and flustering her.
“Um, I just wanted to invite you to breakfast,” she managed to say, keeping her back to him. “You know, since we… talked last night.”
“Breakfast sounds nice,” he replied casually, stepping closer, making it hard for her to concentrate. “But you know, I can’t really focus with you standing there.”
She could hear the teasing lilt in his voice, and it made her even more flustered. “Right, well, you should probably get dressed then,” she suggested, still avoiding looking back at him.
“Why? You’re already here. I’m sure you wouldn’t mind seeing me like this,” he teased, clearly enjoying her discomfort.
Kira took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. “I—uh—I really should go,” she said, inching toward the door.
“Hold on,” he said, his tone suddenly more serious. Before she could react, he reached out, grabbing her wrist and pulling her back toward him.
She stumbled slightly and found herself pinned against the wall, his face just inches from hers. “What’s the rush, darling?” he teased, his voice low and playful. “You look like you’re in a hurry.”
Kira’s breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding as she felt the heat radiating off him. “Fearin, let go!” she exclaimed, pushing against his chest, trying to break free.
“Why? I think you like this,” he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Stop it!” she protested, a mix of embarrassment and irritation bubbling within her. “This isn’t funny!”
Finally managing to push him away with all her strength, she darted out of the room, her face burning as she ran down the hallway. She could hear his laughter behind her, teasing and playful, echoing off the walls.
Once she reached her own room, Kira pressed her back against the door, her heart racing. “What just happened?” she whispered to herself, feeling a rush of emotions.
As she leaned against the door, a blush crept up her cheeks. She couldn’t help but remember how he looked, the way the towel hung low on his hips, water droplets glistening on his skin. There was something undeniably captivating about him. His confidence, the sharp angles of his jaw, and the way his eyes sparkled with mischief—it all left her breathless.
“Focus, Kira,” she murmured, shaking her head to clear her thoughts. She needed to remember that this was a complicated situation.
Still, the nickname he had given her, “darling,” echoed in her mind, sending butterflies fluttering in her stomach. It was a simple word, yet it held so much meaning. In that moment, she couldn’t deny that there was a thrill in their playful banter, a spark of something deeper that made her heart race.
