"What nonsense are you spouting, child!" Shi Wen's expression changed as he roared angrily, his voice filled with a mix of rage and sorrow. "What do you mean 'selling yourself'! Everything I've done has been for your own good. You know very well that the Xi family is a patriotic enterprise of the Empire, a model of law-abiding conduct. Their growth is only getting stronger. Once you join them, you'll enjoy endless wealth and honor. I've found such a good family for you, yet you turn around and accuse your father."

Shi Can looked at Shi Wen's deliberately authoritative anger and didn't even bother arguing over who truly cared more about the Xi family's wealth and power. He sneered, deliberately provoking him. "Father? Do you really think having me call you father all my life makes you the head of some grand family?"

"Oh, right." Shi Can's lips curved slightly as he touched upon what Shi Wen cared about most. His tone was light, but the words landed heavily on Shi Wen's heart. "I seem to recall that your identity registration is still tied to that remote, backward planet."

That smile, in Shi Wen's eyes, was nothing but a blatant mockery. Instantly, an uncontrollable wave of fury surged through him, his body trembling with rage.

Shi Wen had always been obsessed with his status. He had worked tirelessly to obtain a household registration on the capital planet, but the registration process was extremely strict. Someone like him, with no background, naturally couldn't get one. In fact, he had married Li Manman precisely for her capital planet registration.

Unfortunately for him, while Shi Can, through Li Manman, had obtained a capital planet registration, Shi Wen's own identification still listed his address as that backward planet he loathed to even mention.

The enraged alpha looked terrifying, the veins in his neck bulging, his eyes filled with malice, treating Shi Can as if he were an enemy, with not a trace of familial affection.

As Shi Wen was about to lash out physically, Li Manman, paralyzed with fear, didn't dare step in to stop him as he moved toward Shi Can.

"You want to hit me?" Shi Can wasn't afraid of Shi Wen. His beautiful eyes blinked slowly, full of arrogance.

In terms of physical strength, Shi Can, who had reached the fourth level of Qi refining, was far superior to Shi Wen, who had climbed his way through society by schmoozing over cigars and drinks. So Shi Can didn't even flinch, remaining seated, his tone unchanged as he spoke words that halted Shi Wen in his tracks.

"Would you dare? If I so much as get a scratch, I'll make sure the Xi family and yours are accused of conspiring to coerce an omega."

"The Xi family needs a good reputation. Just the accusation of tarnishing a patriotic enterprise's name would be enough to get them to compensate me handsomely. And you..." Shi Can's gaze bore into Shi Wen, his smile unchanging. "Would you dare anger the Xi family?"

The Empire had given patriotic enterprises many privileges, including favorable policies and tax benefits. But as a trade-off, companies that damaged the reputation of such enterprises were required to pay enormous sums to the royal family.

Now, this stipulation had become the very blade Shi Can used to threaten Shi Wen.

Shi Can knew full well that Shi Wen, who was eager to ingratiate himself with the old aristocratic families of the capital, would never dare provoke the Xi family. So he sat there confidently, even letting a hint of provocation show on his face.

As expected, Shi Wen, just as Shi Can predicted, didn't dare make a move.

The room fell into silence.

After enjoying Shi Wen and Li Manman's reactions for a moment, Shi Can finally spoke lazily, breaking the stillness. "I don't mind marrying into the Xi family."
