Author's Note:

"What Was Forgotten" was a deeply personal journey for me as a writer. Growing up in the Philippines, I've always been fascinated by how our memories shape who we are and what we believe to be true. This novel explores the fragile nature of memory and how easily it can be manipulated—by others or even by ourselves. Maia's story reflects a struggle for control, identity, and closure, themes I think many of us can relate to in different ways.

This project took me just one month to write, primarily as a way to ease stress and channel my thoughts into something meaningful. Writing became not only a creative outlet but also a therapeutic experience, allowing me to reflect on the complexities of memory and identity.

I want to thank every reader who has joined me on this journey. Writing this book was an emotional and often challenging experience, but one that I poured my heart into. I hope that as you follow Maia's path, you'll find pieces of yourself in her story, just as I did. Keep questioning, keep exploring—and remember, not everything is as it seems.

Thank you for being part of this adventure.
