Jingfei's POV.
Jingfei's apartment - 8:15 o'clock.
It's Jingfei's official first work-day. She's pretty nervous as an intern for the FFF company, she did a bit of research here and there. She already has a cute but professional outfit composed since last night. That is a white v-cut blouse, beige colored pants with a matched jacket when it's cold, flat shoes and the only cute Gucci bag is the one with roses on it. And then she became broke for a while but it was worth it. "I'm so nervous! I hope they don't be too hard on me! Of course they wouldn't! Too bad for Xing that he broke his wrist... but Peizhi will come everyday to him," said Jingfei, while packing her things before she leaves. "Meow?" meows Jojo, her black cat. "Yeah, Jojo, I will come back later than usual but I will give you extra food and pets when I get home," said Jingfei. "Meow!" agreed Jojo. "Alright! I need to go!" said Jingfei, and she left her apartment and went with the metro to the FFF company. That is a 10 minute ride, she needs to be there around 8:30 - 9:00 o'clock.
She enters the huge building, flabbergasted. She doesn't know where to look first, the people, the design or the elevators. She needs to go to the top-floor where she needs to go because there is the editors department. But all those people now she understands why this is one of the biggest book companies. And it's Monday morning anyway. She tries to get through those crowds of people and especially at the elevators. "Sorry, sorry, sorry, can I get through," said Jingfei. "You're not the only one, young lady," said a businessman, also waiting on the elevator. "I see..." said Jingfei. "It must be your first day at the FFF book company, what major and where will you work?" asked the businessman. "Oh my major is arts and editing and I work at the editing department from today," told Jingfei. "Ah, good luck young lady! It's no easy job there they say," told the businessman. "Really? No worries, I can do this!" said Jingfei, with confidence. "I like your confidence and optimism, young lady." said the business man. "T-thanks," said Jingfei, a bit nervous.
*Ping!*
The elevator arrived on the ground floor and Jung-Nam rushed and tried to fit in the crowded elevator. Jingfei was shoved in a corner and next to her was Jung-Nam. "Oh! Good morning, Mr Seung," said Jingfei, with a soft smile. "Good morning, Jing...." said Jung-Nam, while thinking of her name. "Fei, it's Jingfei but friends call me Jingie," told Jingfei. "Ah right! Sorry I'm not good with names," said Jung-Nam. "That's okay but is it always so crowded?" asked Jingfei. "Unfortunately yes but you will get used to it and on some days it's less crowded like on the weekend or friday," told Jung-Nam. "And how is that in the editing department?" asked Jingfei. "It's a pretty standard and spacious department with desks and computers and laptops, they are all nice and chill people like Yongnian," told Jung-Nam. "I see and do they have a schedule?" asked Jingfei. "Of course they do but you hear more about that from Yongnian, this is my floor, see you later," said Jung-Nam, while leaving the elevator with some other people. "Oh, okay see you later Mr Seung," said Jingfei, while waving at Jung-Nam. And at the top floor where the editing department is.
*Ping!*
The other remaining people get out of the elevator and go to their desks or grab some coffee or tea, and finally Jingfei can catch her breath after being cornered in the crowded and stuffy elevator. She thinks: Finally! And I need to deal with this everyday? I can do this! Am I on time? What time is it? I need to meet with Yongnian in a meeting room with some other people, god! I'm so nervous! She looks at her phone to look at the time: 8:45 o'clock. She looked for the meeting room but it was another meeting room than where she did her interview. She found it after 30 seconds. She knocks on the door. *Knock knock* "Hello, is this the meeting room?" asked Jingfei. "Yes, Jingfei, please come in," answered Yongnian.
The meeting room - 8:45 o'clock.
She was lucky that Yongnian had some familiar faces instead of strangers' faces. She opened the door and there were around 10 people there. They were probably the main editors; there was an open spot for Jingfei in the middle of the table. She felt nervous again, she was standing there for a second or 2. "Please sit down with Jingfei. We have things to talk about with you, like editing-style, what you can do, topics and much more," told Yongnian, calmly. Jingfei quickly goes to the open spot. "Allright, let's start the meeting. I am the boss of the FFF book company, Miss Feng. And Mister Gai chose you as a new intern for the editing department and why is that?" asked Miss Feng. And everybody is looking at Yongnian and some are glancing at Jingfei. She feels like sweating. "Yes why I chose her, I love her talent and admiration in her work and her editing-style it's new and fresh and never seen before," told Yongnian. "Her editing-style? But everyone here has their own editing-style..." said Miss Feng. "Yes, I am aware but she got something different," said Yongnian. "Well, I'm curious, can Miss Ai show us some?" Miss Feng. And everybody is staring at Jingfei, Jingfei feels a lot of pressure like the spotlight shined on her head. She starts her laptop and opens one of her folders and it was the Are the rumors true? And some others. "You are right Mr Gai. I see this style is very trendy these days... do you also edit videos?" said Miss Feng, with the question. "Yes, I do but most of them are from anime, series and idols," answered Jingfei, a little less nervous. "Can you show us 1 or 2?" asked Miss Feng. "O-of course I can, I think you will like it," said Jingfei, with more confidence but still nervous, she clicks one of the latest edits. "Well, that looks really good, Miss Feng," said one of the editors. "Yes, really good... what inspires you to make something?" asked Miss Feng. "Uhm... mostly something that catches my interest like on social media or when I see something on the internet," answered Jingfei. "I see... how old are you?" asked Miss Feng. "I am 20 years old," said Jingfei. "Okay, so you're still in college?" asked Miss Feng. "Indeed," answered Jingfei. "How do you stay motivated with repetitive tasks like proof-reading, fact-checking or source-checking?" asked another editor. "I like reading of course, online and offline with webcomics, manga or just regular books," answered Jingfei. "What are the top social media platforms to increasing content reach?" asked Miss Feng. "I think twitter, facebook, instagram, youtube and maybe reddit," answered Jingfei. "We have 2 of the 4, we have instagram and facebook but not twitter or reddit," told Miss Feng. "Should I make those accounts after the meeting? Miss Feng," asked her assistant. "Yes, Shirong," answered Miss Feng. She looks at Miss Feng's younger assistant who's been working for her for 10 years now! "And what publishing platforms have you used before?" asked Yongnian. "Urhm, none. This is my first one but I want to start as an intern for experience and maybe if my dream comes true I want to be one of the main editors of the company," told Jingfei. "You're ambitious, I like that! I love the passion in your eyes," said Yongnian. Everyone is looking at Yongnian a little concerned and showing glances at Jingfei after that comment. They don't have another scandal again. Miss Feng rubbed her forehead and said "Do you even know what you're saying? Some people can start rumors again, Mr Gai..." "Not in that way! I like her passion and ambition in what she does in her work!" explained Yongnian. Jingfei is blushing because everyone is looking her and the compliment of Yongnian. "T -t-thank you..." said Jingfei. "Sorry that we embarrass you... let's continue shall we," said Miss Feng. "Y-yes," said Jingfei, quietly. "Which are your favorite styling guides?" asked another editor. "I use youtube or I can just google it," answered Jingfei. "What topics would you cover in an oct - dec editorial calendar?" asked Miss Feng. "More festive like in october more spooky and halloween and december more Christmas," answered Jingfei. "How do you keep the team motivated?" asked Yongnian. "Well, most of the time I'm motivated and I give that to other people like saying things: Keep going or we can do this! I always say that to myself," told Jingfei. "That's a good thing! I like people like you!" said another editor. "What's the best and worst thing about our publication?" asked Miss Feng. "Well, the best thing is you have a lot of variations of books that I sometimes read for school or studying and the worst thing is sometimes the books are late and I want more novels and mangas," said Jingfei. "Thank you for your honesty but we do our best to deliver the books but we are not the couriers and about mangas and novels, we are more of a business, magazine, short stories and sometimes we do novels but do you think we will reach a wider audience with that?" told Miss Feng. "Yes, it's quite popular for those kinds of books, I think. Maybe you need to cooperate with those companies," said Jingfei, nervously but more relaxed. "Do you think so?" asked another editor. "Yes, what do you think, Mr Gai?" asked Jingfei. "I'm thinking the same thing! I'm reading more novels these days than how-to-pick-up-girls books and I enjoy them much more," told Yongnian. "You see, Miss Feng," said Jingfei. "Hmm... I'll think about it..." said Miss Feng. "Describe the most challenging team project you've ever worked on?" asked another editor. "When I was last year of high-school, we need to do this project and we were in groups of 4 and we can choose any topic and our topic was Britney spears but the whole history of her and it was pretty big and it was a whole lot of work and some guy didn't nothing at all! And we had a month at the time. And that guy was hanging out with us one day after school and he accidently deleted the whole thing! And we had to start over again and we had a week! But we made it in time with a few all-nighters at some classmates' house!" told Jingfei. "Hmm... that sounds rough..." said another editor. And everyone went quiet and Miss Feng said "We do here also all-nighters, ain't that right? Mr Gai." "Yes, that is true and I'm an expert! Every 15th of the month we get the most work and sometimes we don't sleep for almost a whole week because we need to get our work done before our deadline and begin a new schedule," told Yongnian. "R-really?" asked Jingfei. "Do you want your schedule?" asked Yongnian. "That would be very handy," said Jingfei. "Here's your schedule for the first 2 weeks," said Yongnian, while passing her schedule to her. "Thank you and every 2 weeks it will be different?" asked Jingfei. "Basically yes," said Yongnian. "I see..." said Jingfei, while looking at her schedule. "The meeting is over, everybody goes back to work and Jingfei you work at the desk that is close to Yongnian," told Miss Feng, as she closed the meeting. Everybody left the room and went back to work. Yongnian gives Jingfei in the department and his office.
