Cynthia still had breadcrumbs at the corner of her mouth. Hearing this, she subconsciously grabbed his clothes, as if afraid of being left in the dark again. She said anxiously, "Wait. Are you leaving?"

"Only he has the ability to let you leave here." Berial wiped the breadcrumbs from the corner of her mouth and said sincerely, "Don't worry, he won't eat me. But he never does business at a loss. Maybe he will make some strange requests to you. Just as strange as his request for me to stay with him."

Cynthia puffed up her cheeks, lowered her head and considered for two seconds, and said, "As long as I can leave here, I will agree to anything."

"Really?" Berial raised his eyebrows and showed an ambiguous yet extremely beautiful smile: "I see. I will tell him."

Cynthia thought that the monster would come in front of her, but until she was full and fell asleep tiredly wrapped in Berial's coat, she didn't see the monster appear.

When she woke up, Berial was already gone, and she was the only one left around again. Cynthia opened her eyes and suddenly sat up, looking around: "Berial? Where are you?"

For people, if there is only oneself all the time, one won't feel very afraid. If one has had a companion and then quickly loses it, that is the beginning of panic.

Fortunately, after waiting for a while, there was a sound of footsteps coming from the darkness at the end of the corridor. Cynthia's breathing suddenly quickened. Fortunately, slowly emerging from that gloom was Berial's tall figure.

He walked up to her step by step, knelt on one knee, reached out and tucked her messy black hair behind her ear, and smiled slightly: "Don't be afraid. The monster has agreed to let you go."Cynthia was delighted, but she also anticipated Berial's next words.

"But he made a request. After leaving here, you have to come back here and talk to him from time to time." Berial stared at her intently: "If you are willing to abide by this agreement, he will let you leave."

The reward the monster demands is for her to return to this terrifying place again and again to talk to him?

This request sounds strange at first hearing, but it is far from as harsh as Cynthia imagined. Even compared to Berial who has completely lost his freedom, the monster can be said to be extremely generous to her. But in essence, she is the same as Berial. They are both locked by the monster with invisible shackles by his side.

Leaving here is not the end, but the starting point of another journey full of mysteries. As long as she is still in Abil for one day, she cannot get rid of his shadow for one day.

A faint voice in Cynthia's heart told herself this. This is not a fair deal. But she, who is completely in the other party's control, has no bargaining chips at all. What if the monster has a fickle temperament and, in a fit of anger, takes back the current conditions and asks her to stay in this dungeon without sunlight and accompany him every day? Wouldn't that be a loss?

Her eyelashes trembled like butterfly wings, but she didn't notice that Berial's eyes glowed faintly. He carefully took in every change in her expression and gently licked his pointed teeth with his red tongue.

Suddenly, something flashed through Cynthia's mind. She was puzzled and said, "Berial, isn't that monster imprisoned here by dark magic? Why can he still move freely in the palace? Do you know the reason?"

Berial blinked his red and shiny eyes and said in an uncertain tone: "I don't know either. But I guess that the cage drawn by dark magic is not a completely sealed cage in the traditional sense. That monster seems to be able to leave here briefly and move within a certain range, but he cannot break free from the distance restraint."

So that's it. Cynthia pursed her lips, thought for a while, and gritted her teeth and said: "I've thought about it. I agree to his request."

As soon as these words were spoken, a cold wind swirled in the empty corridor. The chill slowly crept into the bone joints. Cynthia couldn't help shivering. But she didn't hear Berial's answer. When she looked up, she found that Berial, who was originally very close, had disappeared.

"Berial?"Cynthia suddenly opened her eyes wide, stood up, and called out anxiously.

After taking a few steps, her field of vision darkened, as if suddenly covered by a pitch-black silk handkerchief. Cynthia knew that this time it was definitely not because of reasons like "having slept for too long and not being used to the light". All was silent around, only her rapidly disordered heartbeat was stimulating her eardrums one by one.

Just as blind people need the sense of security given by a blind stick. When normal people lose their sight, they will subconsciously look for something to support themselves so that they don't fall over. However, the wall that should have been two steps behind Cynthia suddenly became unreachable. She took several steps back in succession but still couldn't touch any boundary.

As if an invisible force had taken her away from the corridor just now and brought her to a strange place. Amidst confusion and panic, her shoulder suddenly gently bumped into a hard object.

Cynthia suddenly froze.

It was a chest. A chest taller and broader than the slender and tall Berial.

He didn't make the slightest sound and just appeared behind her, waiting for her to walk right into his trap and stick to his chest.
