“I meant to admire you. Because you fought in a different style than your usual…,” Fei Yu said meekly. He wasn’t being mean. He knew how tough it was to change fighting style. In Kibo’s school, he primarily tried to master Herald’s style. But he couldn’t be confident that it would make him win. So, he switched back to the Dynasty style.
Why? Why him? She didn’t want to hurt him a bit. “Fei Yu, how about you surrender before I tattoo your pretty face.”
“I can’t do that,” he said politely. “Red, I want to win just as much as you want. I dream of becoming a great fighter.”
If she knew he was fighting here too, she wouldn’t participate in the first place. Should she give up right now?
No. She told herself again that night was a mistake. It wouldn’t happen again. She must not be weak for a guy she just met. She must not lose control over her emotions. But something compelled her to drop her sabers. She posed bare-handed.
Fei Yu dropped his hook swords. He denied the fear inside his heart. He saw that fight between Xiang Tzu and her. But there should be no room for fear in a fighter’s heart. If he had to lose, he would lose like his friend.
Their fight began. Initially, Red blocked his attacks and didn’t fight back. Her subconscious mind secretly wished, he lost his stamina and dropped out.Fei Yu didn’t even notice he wasn’t using his full might. None of them wanted to hurt each other for a reason unknown.
Red finally noticed how her heart was secretly playing she didn’t have to hit him. Only then… only then she fought back. Both of them use delicate moves of the Dynasty style. When she leg-swiped him, he returned her some peg-top kicks. She dodged and gave him an uppercut when he performed a spinning heel kick. None of them aimed at their sensitive organs.
Their fight continued longer than usual fights and turned very spectacular.
“Red! What are you doing? Finish him!” Itu yelled from the crowd.Yes, that was enough. She didn’t want to time out and make it go on another round. She grabbed his arm and slammed him on the ground. “Stay like this.”
Fei Yu attempted to get up.
She punched his stomach—much less than she did to Xiang Tzu.He still tried to get up.
She punched several times. Then she didn’t know what led her to sit on his groin… and give a palm strike on his nose.
A slap… a common slap met his face. Then another. His cheek turned rosy in no time.“Why you dynasts hate hearing the name of the Legion? Why you people are so judgy?” she spoke in a low voice. “Do you know I saved your people at the risk of my life?” Her tone had no peak of emotion. She smacked his face again. “You should disrespect your master, leaving his school and following a bunch of errant fellows of yours.”
His community was more important to him than some old Master. When she let him go, he didn’t get up. If he did, she was ready to kick his stomach. No mercy, whomever it was.
Fei Yu was capable of continuing the fight. But he was too embarrassed to get up. It was like a couple fighting in public, getting numerous smacks on the face.
He let her win. She’d win anyway—better without getting too damaged.Fei Yu was temporarily angry with her. But he grew curious for her and her true identity. Probably she had some reasons to lie—to hide….
He needed to see a doctor, he thought. Besides, he couldn’t be in public any longer because his face shone crimson.
Meanwhile, June was sure it was Fei Yu whom Red was banging. She was the one who spun the wheel, secretly directing these two to a duel in that tournament. Guilt crawled up as she saw them struggling emotionally. She had to do it… to be sure that Red wasn’t lying.
❝Shadow Fight series is obsessed with naming supporting characters after months. And I am obsessed with naming people after colors. Love the color Red!
