As I pushed the door open, The inviting aroma of simmering spaghetti and meatballs greeted me like a warm hug. I inhaled deeply, savoring the rich scent of garlic, tomatoes and herbs, wafting from the kitchen. The scent of it is spreaded in all over the living room. As I stepped in it, I heard the clattering of pots and pans. The afternoon sun shone bright through the window, television was on but there's no ones watching it, so I switched the plug off. I feel my tummy needs some food but I can't help feeding it until I give myself a little peace.I take my steps towards the stairs until I hear mom's voice.
"Jane, you're here!" Mom called me from the kitchen, bright and cheerful. She appeared in the doorway, wiping her hands on a towel.her face lit up with a welcoming smile.
"How was your day?" She aks
I grinned at her "It was good" as smelling the air "I'm starving, it smells amazing here" while giving a kiss to her on cheeks.
'Lunch Will be ready soon" she says looking at the kitchen.
"I'll be back after a quick shower" I say to her.
"Okay" she said and cupped her hands on my cheeks.
I continue my steps on the stair. My body feels heavy as though gravity has pulled double on my limbs. Each step is an effort.I feel my legs moving sheer habit more than will. All those lessons gave me a headache.
I opened the door set my bag on the desk and take myself straight to the bathroom. As soon as I open the shower, the water cascaded over my skin in warm gentle waves, Instantly melting the whole days tension. The steady pattern my shoulder, looks like a comforting rhythm.the sound of it is therapy itself.I feel like it's healing my brain from inside. Every drop gives my muscles a relax and a small sign of relief. I put some chill music on and closed my eyes.I grabbed the soap and started to rinse my body. The smell of lavender swirled in the air calming my mind. I stayed there for a moment. After some time I have that feeling that it's enough.
The warmth of the shower still clung to my skin as I stepped out of the bathroom, steam trailing me like a veil. I reached for my towel, its softness brushing against my arms as I draped it around my shoulders. My hair, still damp, shimmered slightly under the light, its strands sticking together like silken threads as I squeezed them gently. The feeling of the towel beneath my hand is comforting, familiar, the kind of thing that makes my bedroom feel safe and inviting.
I stand in front of the mirror, my reflection blurred by the steam. I wiped the glass clean, watching my face come into focus. I have a tired look-college has been weighing on me, the late-night study sessions and endless assignments have left dark circles under my eyes. I brushed it off, trying to focus on the rhythm of my routine.
I slipped into a loose, comfortable t-shirt and a pair of soft lounge pants, the kind that make me feel at home no matter how chaotic the day has been. As I ran the towel through my hair again, my gaze drifted across the room. My eyes landed on something strange-a photo album lying open on the floor.
My heart skipped a beat. That album is precious to me. It is full of memories-my and Alex's memories. The sight of it open, sprawled carelessly, sent a jolt of confusion through me. I am meticulous about this album. It always sits on my bookshelf, its spine perfectly aligned with the other books. There is no way I had left it like this.
Slowly, I walked over to the album, my bare feet sinking into the soft carpet. I knelt beside it, carefully closing its pages as though its something fragile. I turned my head slightly, scanning the room for any clue about how it ended up here. Nothing seemed out of place, except for the album itself.
I stood up, the album clutched in my hands. My mind whirred, thinking back to the last time I had touched it. A week ago? No, maybe two. I couldn't be sure. But I know I hadn't left it lying on the floor like this.
